I recently purchased a gopro hero 3 for use when I go diving. My question is will I end up with the fish eye affect if I use it outside the clear dive housing? I would like to get a alum skeleton housing for banging around in while on vacation but don't want to have all my above water pics come out odd??
Anyone got any tips on Gopro hero3's ?

The fish eye effect is caused by the very wide angle lens. If you changed your photo resolution to 7mp, you would have little to no fisheye. Same thing with video. Shooting in 1080 or 720 medium or narrow modes will have very little fisheye.

Is that just while it is in the dive housing, and not needed for outside the dive housing?
Or should I just change it to the narrow field and always have it in a dive housing?

I generally always keep mine in the housing when using it. Whether it's inside or outside the dive housing has no effect on fish eye. The fish eye is in the actual camera itself. If your going to be in dusty or wet environments I would leave it in the housing.
