It depends on what type of antenna are you using? Some antennas require a ground. You just add a large wire between the antenna mount and any part of your truck's frame.

actually that will only give you an electrical ground. It is more important to mount the antenna direct to the body, bumper, or frame. The reason is you dont need an electrical ground. you need a ground plain which requires mass. if you ground using a wire the wire does not have enough mass to create an effective ground plain. also the wire can actually pick up rf and create a dirty ground which will reduce your range and induce static. If you dont have a good ground plain your SWRs will be horrible and it will destroy your radio. Even using a wire could get your swrs ok but the range will suck without a proper plain

The way mag mounts works is it uses the magnet as a ground plain and the magnet uses magnetic flux to use the surrounding body to add to the ground plain.

Im an Elec. Engineer who works on RF all day on MRIs

When you exit at Smokey bear rd. there is nothing, just a dirt lot near the off ramp where we will meet. You will have to go to the Gorman exit for gas / food.

There is an entrance to Hungry Valley from the Gorman exit, but it will put you in on the north side and it may be hard to find the group.
