Fuck it, I'm down for some camping/boozing/outdoor cooking shenanigans.

On a side note, I did a quick solo run of Hungry Valley(Gorman) today. I saw what they did to the 4X4 practice area... I don't like it one bit.

The mud pits were bone dry except for the double black diamond and water trough just outside the practice area. There are now two concrete pipe 4X4 obstacle courses, that I will not be attempting anytime soon. Also, the rock gardens looked like they got upgraded(more difficult) and the surrounding ruts looked deeper harder to cross too. All I could manage was climbing the hill forwards and back on the flattest parts. Now it's really a 4X4 ONLY practice area.

On a positive note, I spent the entire rest of my time there exploring(prerunning?) sandy washes and long open trails, both with full and mini whoops. There are plenty of those, which I took full advantage of putting my AP leaf pack and FOX 2.0 resi's through their paces. I am more than happy with how they held up.

I had a few "OH SHIT!" moments too when I would see a rather alarming whoop/rut approaching at 40+ MPH. I'd just say "fuck it, I'm committed now" and get back on the gas to find that my 5100/Camburg spindle and AP/FOX rears soaked them really nice.

So maybe we could start off with a big group trail run like we've done the past 2 times with a meet 'n greet right after. Then if you prerunner guys want I'm down to hit up some of those washes and whoops, while the 4X4 guys crawl around the obstacle courses. Waddya think?

word. i actually kind of hate going to hungry valley on the weekend... it can be really crowded and i dont like to lay on the skinny pedal too much cause i'm so worried about taking out a kid on a bike around a turn or coming over a hill.

weekdays are much better cause most of the time the place is near empty

True, I bet that happens very often too. Oh well, with 15+ trucks, Im sure even a kid on a dirtbike will hear us coming and flip around realllll quick like and haul out.

It's also the blind turns, crests and trail crossings that have me worried.

No worries, we can prerun the trails and find the ones with the least crossings, traffic and best visibility. I'm sure some people will want to film and photograph so they can help warn cross traffic if needed.

Plus people tend to do a good job of staying the hell away from trucks out in Gorman in my experience. We must look like high-speed bulldozers to them

Also, I'll be looking to get at least one amber dust light mounted before the 21st.

I suggest anybody interested in doing fast runs with us crazies get one, or three.

Myself and tacooon so far. Just make sure you have some way of locking those down while we're out wheeling. I'm not aware of anyone bringing wives who want stay behind and watch our stuff.

Ok well since me and my wife are coming from fres we were thinking of camping out there however we wanted to stay friday night. but when everyone says camping do they mean saturday or friday night??... and yes i will bring plenty of carne asada and hamburger meat for the grill. the more food and grills the merrier. and on another note to that i will probably bring a quad for scoping the trail.. maybe all the bikes and quads can lead the group and clear out the trails??? and to the person noting down the peeps on a list my pops will be coming too... he has an avalanche though with a nine inch lift kit. (however he loves tacomas fyi) lmao.... woot woot go tacos!!!

Yeah we def need a list of all the peeps that wanna camp out! And maybe determine a good location. But u said near the practice area right. So i guess thats the place to go! Any more takers for the camping? Plus i will be bringing firewood to last a lifetime!! A big enough fire to have the warmth reach alaska:cool:
