Nice. But my car just needs the wheels and tires to show up and it's dailyable. Technically I could drive it now and do but I don't trust the tires for more than short trips right now.

Some pics I forgot. New clutch return spring. Original one was a little stretched but still working.

Forgot to take pics before I wiped it's ass. This is all cleaned up and ready for the bumper to go back on.

Involved stripping part of the trunk trim too.

The brake light that was once hidden is back in it's proper location. Still works just fine too.

Had to re-run the wiring up the truck arm since they had cut all the straps for it. Used Tesa top and put a grommet in the lid where the wire passes thru to the wing.

Bumper cover back on. All new clips holing it nicely in place.

And a bunch of parts arrived today, like the new oil temp sensor and intake.

Honestly, the HKS that's on it now doesn't sound all that bad. It doesn't have the typical Japanese car drone or raspiness to it.

Another busy day wrenching on the Subie. Changed all the drivetrain fluids with fresh Redline stuff. The transmission really seems to like it so far, running much quieter and shifting much smoother now.

Also found and corrected some more wonkiness from the PO. For some reason, he had shoved the exhaust as far over to one side as possible and used hose clamps on the exhaust hangers to keep it in that position. This was actually causing the exhaust to rub in a couple spots. Removed all the hose clamps and inspected the rubber hangers. They aren't worn out and going to fall off. Lots of clearance at the rub spots now and the tip is now more centered on the opening.

The big thing today was changing out the oil pan, pickup and windage tray from stock, which the OEM pickup in known for breaking at the welds, and installing a new Killer B oil pan kit with new pickup and windage tray. Also installed the new oil temp sensor that arrived during the week.

First, she had to float. I really need to get a 2nd floor jack for lifting the front. Both front wheels come off the ground when I'm jacking up one side from the subframe in front of the wheel. I use the factory tie down point as a reference for placing the jack. The bosy and everything is just stiff and there's hardly any suspension travel right now.

Laid the new pan and parts out.

Pull the dipstick and oil fill cap (battery side).

The old pan, oil drained and ready to be pulled out. Filter is new, I put it on so the adapter plate thingy wouldn't drip oil on me. Subie filters have the same reputation as Toyota filters. Known to be very good.

New oil temp sensor installed and the wiring wrapped up is Tesa tape. It's the little silver one on the right. The other is oil pressure.

Got the old pan out. Requires lifting the engine up a couple inches or so, meaning I had to work around the floor jack. Good practice as I'll be replacing the motor mounts at some point too.

Digging into the bottom end. The OEM windage tray is huge compared to the Killer B one. It also sits way down from the rotating assembly. So basically useless as a windage tray.

Couple comparison pics of the windage trays and oil pickups. Notice the new Killer B one has 2 legs to support the tube and is actually welded together. The OEM one looks like it's brazed. No wonder it's prone to breaking.

Finally, the guts of the engine. Everything looks pretty good for just over 100k miles.

Killer B windage tray in place. Much tighter to the crank and should work much better.

And the new oil pickup in place with the extension blocks. They do that so you can actually use the pickup with the stock pan as well. The new pan holds 6 quarts so needs the extensions.

And the new pan in it's home.

Filled it up with my favorite Rotella T6 after lowering the engine back down, bolting everything back up that was removed for that and then set the car down on the tires again. Fired it up and oil pressure looked good but it ran like shit. I forgot a vacuum line, duh! Plugged that back in and she rumbles like a kitten again. Took it for a quick test drive and then checked for leaks, All good!

Windshield being replaced tomorrow. I pulled the cowl tonight and did some cleaning, do some more tomorrow as well before they get here to replace the glass. It's got some rock chips that are line of site and and old repair that is failing. Plus it's pretty sand blasted so a new one will be nice. Replacing the weather stripping around the outside of it as well.

This thing was filthy underneath the cowl from sitting outside for so long.

The original reveal molding is all cracked and shitty. New OEM molding will go on with the new windshield. The rear window reveal molding was worse, already replaced that.

You can see the failed chip repair in this shot. That's about center of the windshield, just below the rear view mirror And another chip right below it.

This one is directly in line of site from the driver seat.

    Much cleaner now.

Almost forgot, wheels and tires are in the mount/balance stage with Fitment. So hopefully, I have a tracking number soon, like within the next week.

New windshield and reveal molding installed this morning. I was also able to take some of the negative camber out of the rear wheels. They went from neg 3.0 to neg 1.4 degrees. Much better. [IMG]

New wheels and tires should show up Wednesday according to the tracking number.

Finally got around to replacing the upper power steering rubber hosed. Old ones were rock hard. Also checked one of the spark plugs while I was at it and found that I have a broken lock on one of the spark plug terminals. New terminal ordered from iWire.com. Wish there was something like that for Toyotas. If there is, I'm not aware of it! Spark plugs I bought for the car are wrong, looks like when they built it back in 2012 or whenever the plugs were last changed, they went with one range colder. So I'll have to order a new set. The one plug looked good tho, so I'm not worried about rushing to get new ones.

Super easy to remove just the PS reservoir as compared to my 4Runner. Got that and the old hoses out, only spilling a little PS fluid. Uses ATF, same as the 4Runner, so that's convenient.

New OEM hoses. The S curve one is the return line, the other the pump feed.

Here's the plug with the broken lock. I put a dab of FIPG on the catch after I reinstalled the plug, so hopefully it stays put. I figure it will since it's been broken for a while.

Reservoir cleaned up, new hoses on and system bled. Similar process to Toyotas, so pretty easy to do.

Just got home from a nice, long drive in the STI. Took it up Mt Lemmon here in town. Car did awesome, even with the old ass snow tires on it. Handles great, tons of power on tap when you keep it spooled up, which really doesn't take much to get it going. Planned on stopping and getting some beauty shots but about 3/4 of the way up the mountain, it started raining. Rained the whole drive home too, heavy downpour shit. So no pics. Everything worked great tho, so I'm very happy with that.

Welp, got the wrong front CV axles from Napa. Need to return them. I was going to change them out today. Glad I did some more research this morning before tearing everything apart. Probably just order new OEM boots instead and rebuild the axles in the car now.

Took a drive out the the Titan Missile Silo site that's near me. It's just the remains, they blew it up years ago. Only contrate pads remain. But it has a nice mountain back drop so I took some pictures. Last time with these wheels, assuming the new ones show up on Wednesday like they're supposed to. I've been on the lookout for the proper STI wing for it as well. Nothing reasonable yet.

Wrap that I want is still on backorder as well.
