The stock picture bit wouldn't work, even if he wanted to do it. Cop has to visually look at it and sign it off.

Kinda irrelevant that your dad says it's okay since as you and I and others mentioned, it's up to their discretion. While your dad may not bother to ticket someone, another cop legally can since it's illegal. Although I do agree that yours really isn't that dark and I know most cops around here wouldn't even bother with that. I was never harassed with 35% all the way around on my last car since that isn't all that dark.

I agree. During the summer it gets to be 110+ here in the valley so something like this would help reduce air conditioner use and save fuel. Maybe not very much but take 100 million cars and it adds up. All because they are afraid they can't see you when they pull you over. I say take that radar gun and add a heat seaking device to aim at the cars to count how many heads are in there. Arizona is allowed due to their extreme heat.

I wonder if that would work for say heat rash on your arms while driving. It happens to me sometimes. especially my left arm. Looking into this.

In North Carolina, if you get a tint ticket, you can have it removed and inspected by a State Trooper and the ticket will be dropped. But you can keep getting tickets for it over and over if you don't remove it. It can be 35% on the fronts in NC

Oh i hear ya. If you have the rx, it seems to work sometimes, and sometimes the cop says, "Dont care, take it up with the judge"..

yah actually, i've written this rx before for front tint but you have to go to court and show the judge. It is a route you could take and it would work eventually.. but what a damn hassle.

Man up! It's illegal in CA. If you ride with it (I do on my other cars) I just figure it is the risk I run. Now in a state where municipalities are looking to make a buck, you are an easy target that took the bait. I don't know what kind of business you are in but this is the way the law enforcement/revenue generation racket works. The best way to handle it is to know you are playing the game when you put the tint on - The cop had nothing to do with your actions. Then when you do get pulled over (on a day that you have shaved) be polite an respectful with a sincere heart and most cops will treat you the same way and sometimes send you on your way. Just my 2c

Oh i was polite as all could be. He even laughed with us and said, "you two (my buddy and i) seem like great guys, but we're out here to inform and keep everyone safe, so now you know that it is illegal... yadda yadda" Still got the fixit, which i don't fault him on.. BUT i totally am manning up! If i can get off with the $25 and keep the tint, i'll roll like that till it happens again then take it off. That's the plan!

I have friends here that in college were snow skiing in CA (car registered in NV) and the CHP pulled them over and made them drive in a snow storm with the windows down until they reached the state boarder (he followed them the whole time).

I decided to finally get my 2010 front tinted 20% which is illegal in pa. Didn't even have it on for a week and I got a removal warning. No fine but I wasted 70 bucks on my tint install :(. I see soooo many vehicles with blacked out tint and my old corolla was the same way and never an issue. I guess my truck just looked so cool he just wanted to get a better look lol ;)

You can still get a fix it ticket in california for tint even if the vehicle is registered in another state. I may at one time in the past given a tint ticket to someone whose vehicle was registered in AZ. Wasnt trying to be a dick but the sidedoor spot lights couldnt even see through them.

Plus CHP is notorious or at least used to be for giving tickets to out of state folks because they know the chances of the person showing up in court is unlikely.
