dont know about SD county, but i've received a no plate ticket on two of my vehicles in the past year out here in LA county and all i had to do was pay a $10 fine and aend in a dated pic showing the plate "installed"...! getting it physically signed off is an option as well, but much easier to just get a pic.

No more quotas in california. They are just strongly urged to write a few tickets per traffic stop.

Just roll your windows down before they walk up to your vehicle. Then tell them your power windows have been acting up, and they wont come back up. . . They can't test them, so no proof.

I just got a ticket for tinted tails and front windows on my taco in February. It pays to have a buddy working for the PD:D. I tinted my FJ a couple days ago too, its pretty dark, 20% IIRC.

I dont know if this is available in your area, but it is in mine and you may wanna look into it: Some shops offer "ticket protection" which means that, if you get a ticket, theyll take it off for free and reapply it for free after youve gotten it signed off.

Do they have something to check what percentage it is or do they just look at it and say "It's too dark"?

been rocking 5% for 10+ years in dallas tx. never had a prob.

also i would like to make a suggestion. the whole reason the cops spaz on the dark tint is cause they are afraid your gonna shoot them or something. When or if you get pulled over immediately roll down your windows. even before they get out of the car.

Officially they should use a light meter to measure the transmissivity of the tint. It will tell them how much light makes it thru.
But it's pretty easy to look at most tint and tell if they need to get the meter out.
