You doubt my persistence. I'm going to probably go out today and dick with it. Charging the battery now. It died on my last trip so I ran it off the trucks AGM lol

Well. Now it starts and idles like a champ. But it's back to bogging when I give it gas....

    Ya don't say? Lol.

I bumped the idle screw up so it idles at 6-700 rpms and it seems to like that. The idle air screw is backed out 1 1/4 turn as specified in the manual. Not sure which one to mess with. More than likely it's probably getting too much air I assume.

I am thinking, without benefit of being there, it's starving for fuel when you romp on it, general cause of falling on it's face...………….

but I can see you learning to fully appreciate fuel injection...…………..

Not sure how to give it more fuel. All new jets,a accelerator pump and internals float is measured to spec. Only adjustments I can make are idle and idle air. I have it idling at 6-700rpm it seems to love that for start up and idling. Runs pretty smooth. But it's back to when I give it gas it falls on it's face.. the last run it barely idled and had difficulty starting, but it jumped outta the holeshot great

Carbs can be a pain to get set right. You might have the throttle open too much with the idle adjustment. Can you back off the idle screw and then get the idle back up with adjusting the idle air screw?

Idle air screw doesn't affect RPMs at all on this thing unfortunately. It either runs smooth, or it'll stumble when messing with idle air haha

Maybe you need more timing to get the idle up and then you can back off the idle screw.

or maybe you need to go back a few post
grab a timinglight.. tach dwell meter

    visit a youtube channel
get the specs for your boat engine
    and walk through it
    one step at a time
    as I suggested...………….....

Yeah, it can be fun doing the fine tuning for your combination. Add to that the difference between a prop motor setup vs jet setup and car engine vs boat engine. I found that on my old jersey speed skiff the distributor had the 2 spring loaded hold down clamp and that still allowed for too much movement when the boat was bouncing off the waves and it ate up a new rotor in 1 day. I had to switch to a cap with screws to hold everything tight in place. Boat stuff does not translate to car stuff in a lot of situations.

Yea... Not everyone can just "grab a timing light and tach meter"

Everything checks out. I think it's due to the improper prop size. Once I get the prop spinning I can give it throttle agressively. But if I try from idle it definitely tries to stall out the engine. I can rev it by hand in neutral in the water with absolutely no issues. It's getting good sprays of fuel, accelerator pumps working as it should, it starts and idles like a dream.

No timing issues. It'll just have to be a quirk that I work around for now. It still runs and boats.

Good to know you have isolated the issue.

    Have fun with it
    And keep showing the progress.

I'm going to reach out to the local boat pick n pull and see what they recommend for a prop. Maybe I can do a trade.

Next up I'm going to start rebuilding the lounge seats. I have a group of people I'm taking out on the 29th and I want my main seats to be in good order.

I also want to wire up my switch gang, fix the radio and speakers and throw in some lights/get some night time spot lights so I can run easier at night.

I just am trying to decide where to put the switch gang that won't look tacky...

Also... My trim gauge doesn't read properly/backwards and my fuel gauge is everywhere and the temp gauge doesn't ever move.

Unfortunately I am also prepping for some field training and a deployment so I am running out of time to work on this thing.
