Sounds like you should be afraid of alligators. On land they can chase you down and then they can drag you into the water.

Your description is not helping. I think I'm developing a fear of spiders now.

alligators dont really scare me much. and on land they are pretty slow. they can strike fast but run slow

so i looked up the camel spider thing. while they are definately terrifying, they do not chase down camels and all that. although they can run as fast as 10mph which is really freaking fast for a spider.

I also looked up the funnel web spider. this is what happens if you get bit....

The envenoming syndromes observed following bites by all these spiders are identical. The bite is initially very painful due to the acidity of the venom and the size of the fangs penetrating the skin. Systemic envenoming may follow the local effects. Early symptoms of systemic envenoming include tingling around the mouth and tongue, facial muscle twitching, nausea, vomiting, profuse sweating, salivation, and shortness of breath. Patients may rapidly develop agitation, confusion and coma associated with hypertension, metabolic acidosis, dilation of the pupils, generalised muscle twitching and pulmonary oedema.[1] Death results from progressive hypotension or possibly raised intracranial pressure resulting from cerebral oedema.[7]

The onset of severe envenoming is rapid; in one prospective study, the median time to onset of envenoming was 28 minutes, with only two cases having onset after 2 hours (both had pressure immobilization bandages applied).[1] Deaths may occur within a period ranging from 15 minutes[3] (this occurred when a small child was bitten) to three days.

also their fangs are powerful enough to penetrate fingernails and soft shoe's

LOL this thread reminded me of a little story from my youth.

Back when I was 13 or 14 me and a few buddies where riding some ATVs on a local trail in the woods near my house. We had came back here several times on bikes and always stopped because this trail was long as hell. Well we stop in the trail because we get to a place where a tree has fallen over yet is still chained to something. While messing with that we begin to hear things in the swamp land next to us. My friend Dusty starts his ATV and goes to turn around when Twitch (yes, thats his nickname, his mommy calls him Andrew) decides that He has seen an alligator. Well we are all looking where he's pointing and we see some shit move so we haul ass outta there. Never found out if it was a gator or not. Fun day.

Flying cockroaches. Man, just typing it gives me the jeebies. I had a roach land on my arm whilst creeping through the hood last year when I was on nights. Damn near wrecked my car.

I'm not particularly fond of spiders, but that's what shoes are for, so I guess my main phobia--as in completley irrational--is heights. I cannot get byond the third step of a ladder no matter how much I try to convince myself that I am an intelligent human being who can get over this.... Forget the edge of a cliff no matter how pretty the view, and heaven help anyone who tries to pick me up....

I'm also not fond of water that I cannot see the bottom of--that's the best I can describe it. Pools don't bother me, but lakes? No thanks. The ocean on a boat? No thanks. Boats, however, do not bother me--just the thought of falling in bothers me.

Hubby found a huge spider in the kitchen sink one morning and washed it down the drain. He turned on the disposer just for good measure and swore up and down that it was big enough to make noise as it was ground up. I generally leave them alone unless they are in my house, then the little f*ckers are fair game.

Spiders. Spiders. Spiders. Like this one:

    Flying insects. Like moths.
    Public speaking.
Rollercoasters that loop or travel upside down.
Watching a terrifying movie alone, at night, in front of my sliding glass door that opens to the woods.
Choking to death on a piece of red meat because I eat too much of it.
    Drowning because I can't swim.

so you're pretty much just a great big girl. you need to learn to swim. i am amazed when people tell me they cant swim. it just seems one of those things you should learn about the same time as reading
