How can a Tacoma 3.5 v6 have the same towing capacity to a 4.6 Tundra? Both say that their max is 6800lbs? Is not the 4.6 more powerful and has much a beefier chassis than the Tacoma? If so why does the 4.6 have the same towing capacity as the 3.5? Shouldn't it be higher?

Tundra is a much heavier vehicle.

There is more then the horsepower to determine the tow rating. Look at the Ridgeline with 5000 pounds with a engine with very similar power.

It's just marketing. Makes the Tacoma look more capable without cutting into the 5.7 Tundra sales.

^^^ That I was looking at them at the dealership yesterday. They are a shit ton bigger... the TRD Tundra looked pretty sweet and the price wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Think upscale EVERYTHING on the interior = Tundra.
