Weird, on Bridgestone’s website they don’t show the LT in 265/65-17 size.

These look great! Was thinking of going with a dedicated winter set.
May be these. Hakkas are great too.

I think I just figured it out. The LT’s come in the 16 size. So now I’m wondering if I am better off getting those LT’s in the 16” size or the DM-V2 in the 17” size???

    Thoughts?

I really don't think you can go wrong either way sanddog...

I went with the LT because the tread is much deeper, and the LT will perform longer...

And the LT's are made in Canada.. SOLD!

Depends on what rims you want to put them on really... I have an 2017 OR with 16's.. I sold the shiny rims right away and just rock factory silver steel wheels with center hub caps..

I have my winter and summer sets... The factory silver steels are awsome quality and are cheaper that black 17" steels... So it helped me go with 16"..

many thanks Pot-Lickr. I have a 2018 and have a set of DV-M Blizzaks on original 16" wheels from my 2000 4Runner and I thought i was golden till i realized that they wont work with my 2018 Tacomer (2018) because of the over-size caliper (which i think may have been new in 2018?).

I do have a set of 17" 4runner rims but they need to be cleaned up a bit. I ordered the DV-M's in 17" size and will put them on these rims once i clean them up and paint them. Gonna sell the Blizzaks on the 16's.

Thanks again for all the info.

Oh there will be some mods all right
That's funny. I'm the opposite. I was disappointed to put on my winter tires and wheels because they're so plain. Still did though because winter tires are so much better than all terrains.

Can't beat a true winter tire!

Myself, I settled on (C Load) Goodyear Duratracs A/T "All Weather" with the 3 peak Snow flake designation, only because I don't travel far, anywhere for anything. But If I had to drive a lot, I would have designated winter tires too.

My dad had those tires on his truck, best all terrains I've experienced. Great in mud, cut right through slush, and great road manners. I think they deserve the snow flake more than any other all terrains.

Duratrac is an awsome winter tire... It lacks a bit on ice but isn't worse than any other all seasons..

Deep snow you can't beat that tire..

The only comparable tire to that Duratrac for going down the snowy fast lane at 65mph is the 965.... They both cut...

K02's are terrible in the snow... I had a set and got them refunded.. My Defenders beat those out of the water for wet and snow traction by 3 football fields... Let alone this Blizzak..

I'm dying to sample the traction on these LT babies... I can't wait till we get a dumping

    Alright....

So the Blizzaks.... I was impressed... But now I'm not...

These things pick up rocks and won't eject them... And when they DO come out, they go flying down the side of my truck..

I've never in my life had a tire that literally sucks up rocks and pelts them everywhere...

I took the tires off the truck and picked the rocks out of one that equaled probably a pound of granite..

I took them back to Firestone and I was granted a full refund except the install.. I didn't expect that...

Awesome tire in the snow... Amazing in the snow...

    Smooth...

But I drive on to many gravel roads for this to be happening... The pea stones that get stuck in the sipes are wrecking the tires...

Any set of W965 Blizzaks I had NEVER....I say NEVER did this....

Anyways... I just went with the P rated Duratrac in stock size... I've had them before and know what to expect...

What a let down that was!!

My Corolla has WS80 Blizzaks...They don't pick up stones...???

During the winter I have DMV2s on my 4Runner and Cooper Discoverer M+S studded on my Land Cruiser. Both are great, but the studded Coops have performed better overall for me.

now the LT's are rated as XL (extra load). 10/E
what pressure would you run them at and does it ride stiffer due to the reinforced sidewall?? They are rated for up to 80psi??

The problem with LTs on these light trucks is you need to run a much higher pressure.

an LT tire requires more pressure to hold the same load as a P rated tire under less pressure

you need to run at least 40psi technically... minimum

Running LT winter tires self defeating on a light truck.

P/SL tires are much softer and bite much better.

My half ton Sierra came with LT tires

I always ran an LT Blizzak with that truck and they performs excellent.

An advantage the LTs have over the P/SL tires is they always come with more tread and usually have a much squarer edge on the outer treads. They bite better in turns...

Compare an LT Duratrac to the SL.... huge difference in the outer tread blocks

Duratracs aren't winters. I had a set of E's and they were shit in corners. I ran studded for our mild Calgary winters and to drive out to the mountains.

More tread is advantageous only in snow and slush.

With most of us, we do city driving on ice and packed snow. You want soft.

That said the LT blizzak is still 50X better than than any non-winter tire.

Of course it’s not a dedicated winter tire.
I was just using it as an example of the tread differences.

I’ve run a lot of different tires over the years and I always come back to the Duratrac for winter.. you can’t beat their deep snow and slush performance. Ice is marginal but no tire is really good on ice.

I've run Blizzak DM-V1 for 8 seasons. They are just now getting down to the wear bars and I'm only just starting to see the traction control and ABS coming on during daily driving in snow. These have been amazing tires, the only downfall I've noticed is they've started to pack up and spin when you get into deeper wet snow this season- otherwise they have been great.

Next fall I'm planning to check out these LT's vs the current DM-V3(?) models.
