So around 10:30 tonight, my phone starts ringing and notice it's an 888 number. I don't pick up because nobody that really needs to talk to me would call from an 888 number. I then notice that a voicemail is left. WTF, what kind of person calling from an 888 number leaves voicemail?

I listen to my voice mail, and the guys voice has a mask on it. He says he's from some PA rape center and there was a case opened lately and that my name was involved with it. He says to call back at my convenience, but does not leave a number.

After listening to the message, I google the phone number and sure enough the number matches the organization that he said he was part of. Then I think back to what date that the man said the rape occoured on. Thanks to forums, I knew what I was doing that day.

It was a Friday and there was a ROTC lab (I'm non-contracted ROTC) the next day. Not only did I not go out that night, but I also was in bed by like 11pm since I had to get up around 6am the next day.

Being that a) He used a voice mask, b) he didn't leave a return number, and c) I stayed in my room that night, I'm not calling this fucker back. If it was serious, I'm sure I would be contacted by the police.

Anybody else ever have shit like this happen to them?

Ive had phone calls, at my house, asking for me or my dad, when they refuse to identify, or start to ask questions, i simply hang up on them....

some of those folks are using information to extort people, they say they have a relative kidnapped or something, and they ask you to deposit some money, at the end is all a scam....

the thing is not to let them speak...

Ya it's just weird that the number that they called from matches up to what seems to be a legit place.

Fuck it though, I'm not calling back.

Which is why I don't give a damn haha. If I was in deep shit the police would be calling me...or more likely showing up to my house...instead of some dude behind a voice mask.

Wierd, but I wouldn't sweat it. If they call back that could be a different story.

Do a search for Orange Boxing or Caller ID Spoofing. It is posible to call someone but have the caller ID read as a different number. Unless there is an offcer with a court order standing at your door concerning this issue i would just blow it off as a prank.

I would call the police if you still have the recording. Make that SOB pay for messing with you.
