So I got pulled over for speeding this morning. Yes- I was in the wrong and yes, I was speeding. But what worries me is that I got a ticket for $330 for running a stop sign on my bicycle so I can't imagine how much a "real" ticket is going to cost.

A speeding ticket is less then a red light ticket unless things have changed in the last few years; I think it'll run you about $175-$220. I wounder since the first ticket was on a bike if this one would put a point on your record.

Well... I was going pretty fast, as in 80MPH. I have no excuse but everyone and I mean EVERYONE drives that speed in the carpool lane. The worst thing is that the guy behind me did not have a passenger thus he was illegally using the carpool lane, but wouldn't you know it was we who got pulled over? Another thing is that has anyone noticed that its never the guys driving Bimmers or assholes in their hoopty-mobiles that get pulled over? Its always people like me in their dinky little cars and trucks.

FWIW, I was pulled over on my Bicycle before. Cop stopped me for "Drinking and Driveing" as I was drinking a beer while riding me bike. He let me go with a warning, but I had to walk my bike.

Well, my theory is that the police departments around here are broke and they're not doing anymore letting people off the hook. I swear I've seen more cops on the freeway than ever before.

I belive that to be correct. Out here, the GOV made a statment that she was lowering the "Leeway" for speeders, and I, too, have noticed more patrol cars out and about.

I currently have two tickets that I am gonna fight

1st ticket - Speeding ticket (doing 88 MPH in a 65 MPH zone)

2nd ticket - Red Light Camera (rolling red stop)

I got an extension on the first one and the courts out here in California are now backed up like crazy because they are closing a few more days a month. So luckily they extended my ticket until Jan 15, 2010 which is good because by the time I actually get a court date almost a whole year will have passed and usually the cop wont remember or wont show up (crossing my fingers)

altogether if I do pay I am looking at around $800

I recently just got 2 speeding tickets in the last two months, the first one in June for "90+" which was a b.s. ticket, cop didn't gun me or anything, he "claimed" to be going 90 and i was pulling away from him, but we all know how much cops lie up the ass. That was $320, recently, as in late July, got another f-ing speeding ticket for 90 and its 370, AND to top it all of at the beginning of June, late May, i got a "fix-it ticket" for no front license plate, "fix-it ticket" ended up being 165 + 25 filing fee, such bs, without all those tickets i would have had a new set of wheels, fml, not even talking about insurance yet.

hi bob, i got a speeding ticket in r.i.last month for doing 85 in 65 ($95.00)the trooper knocked it down 5 mph (so it would not be driving to endanger) and told me cause i had no offenses in over 3 years i could apply for good drivier dimissal(with a certified driving record from mass.)so i went in front of the judge and he asked if i was going to use my good driver appeal .I said yessir and he said charge dismissed with $35.00 court cost.I bring this up not to brag but maybe in your state you could qualify. If i had got stopped in mass.i would have no such option and would have been really screwed ($300 +)

    X2

I was pulled over by a sheriff earlier this year because "he saw me driving around 3 times that night and i looked conspicuous because i had mud on my truck" i kid you not, needless to say he let me off with nothing

Well, add this to how things are going in general I was actually somewhat tempted to turn around, pack the van, and move the hell out of here. This state pisses me off. Back in the South you can literally drag race on the roads and nobody cares.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Cops These 16 Police Comments were taken off actual police car videos around the country. Thank goodness, in spite of the perils of the job, they still have a sense of humor!

    16. 'You know, stop lights don't come any redder than the one you just went through.'

    15. 'Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while.'

    14. 'If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document.'

    13. 'If you run, you'll only go to jail tired..'

    12. 'Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you.'

    11. 'You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?'

    10. 'Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help.. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?'

    9. 'Warning! You want a warning? O.K, I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket.
    '
    8. 'The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not.. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?'

    7. 'Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey shit.'

    6. 'Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven.'

    5. 'In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC.'

    4. 'How big were those 'two beers' you say you had?'

    3. 'No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can.'

    2. 'I'm glad to hear that the Chief (of Police) is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail..'

    AND THE WINNER IS....

    1. 'You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't. Sign here. ( In Calif. )
