My truck was parked outside my friend's house last night, who has cameras all around their house. We left at 9:30 to go to his restaurant, and the video shows both me and my friend (he drives an '03 4runner) locking our vehicles.

However, when we got back right around midnight, I hop into my truck, and the first think I notice is my water bottle is on the floorboard. So I flip the light on, and my iPod is gone, which I had hardwired into my head unit. They opened my center console, used my grandfather's knife to cut the cord and apparently just took that, I haven't noticed anything else missing. Then my friend checked his car and they also stole his GPS.

My question is, since there were no signs of forced entry, how the hell did someone smash and grab so easily? Without an alarm or anything?

Also, the security footage was inconclusive thus far, the closest we get to a lead is my running lights coming on at one point during the tape.

That suck sorry to here it. I dont know how someone would get in without the alarm going off. Maybe a slimjim but i think that would set off the alarm.

WTF? No forced entry, no alarm, and your running lights came on, thats all you can see in the video? Dont the running lights only come on when you hit the unlock on the remote?

this could also be the way of entry, i have heard that they are using electronic tools to mimic your keyless entry remote, they sit and wait for you to lock your doors, when you do that they can steal the signal and reproduce it to unlock your doors when your gone.

Most likely a slim jim was used. And if you didn't have a car alarm installed, the flashing red light on your dash from Toyota is for the car key indicator and isn't any type of alarm for shock sensors or pin switch set-up. The best thing to do is get yourself an after market alarm hooked up.

Well, I know one damn thing, I'm only parking my truck in my garage from now on.

I can't believe this shit, I've been home for less than 24 hours and this already happens. Whereas at college my truck is outside 24 hours a day and nothing has ever happened to it.
