Was at a party and someone hit me with a golf cart. Anyone have any idea how much this will cost?
Never knew a golf cart could do so much . 9457995F-C341-498A-A78E-EF20B123918C.jpg FD3DE122-1F01-4E66-893E-413BB2142595.jpg

Was alcohol involved and was the insurance on that golf cart current? :)

Sorry for the pun. I am assuming that they will have to replace that panel but I could be wrong. Not sure if this is comparable, but I had to have my tailgate replaced due to a small dent and it was around $1,800 including paint. So maybe somewhere in that neighborhood? I don't think you are looking at anything beyond some minor body damage.

Doesn’t matter what it costs. Let the driver of the golf cart pay

I agree and don't wait too long either or you will be stuck to repair it. I would of gotten the cops involved just to be on the safe side.

The insurance adjuster will get close, the body shop doing the work will be exact (of course)

Hoping you didn't tell the cart driver that you would 'work it out' with them, because you have no recourse if they balk at the final price.

    Which will not be cheap.

You can't do "PDR" (paintless dent repair) because the paint is messed up.
You may find a body shop that can (or will try) to fix the creases and if you don't care that much about the finished product, this may be the way to go out of your own pocket.

Otherwise, the fix will likely be disassembling that side of the vehicle and replacing the bed side.
    • Remove tail light
    • Remove bumper
    • Remove tailgate
    • Remove flare
    • Remove gas filler door & spout
    • Remove plastic bed rail cap
    • Unbolt front and other mounts of the bed side to remove
    • Install new bed side (which will have to be painted, as they don't come from Toyota painted to match)
    • New rock guard protective films
    • Reinstall flare with new clips (you may even need a replacement one)
    • Reinstall other stuff
You're looking at probably $1500+ since the bedside for a 2nd gen is almost $900 unpainted. Add paint, labor and finish work (wash and wax/blending) and you're easily at $1500.

Police typically don’t respond to fender benders. Swap insurance information and move on. Can you imagine the crime rates in America if all they did was respond to petty accidents involving golf carts?

    Everyone sounds about right.

Shouldn’t cost you shit. I would not report to insurance. Get a quote from a shop you feel will do the job right and give a lifetime warranty and give to the golf cart along with an estimate for the rental. Get the money up front or in some type of escrow crap or if they have an umbrella policy.

Cost should be around 1500-2000. I think they would fix it.

They would R&I bumper to set back bed for repair. R&I tail lamp and bed rail mouldings to refinish bed side. R&I fuel door and pocket. Probably 10+ hours repair and 3.2 hours refinish plus clear on bed side. Maybe some inner wheelhouse time. Need the flare and mud flap. Need the front and rear clear bed protectors. Any other crap like de-nib and polish, corrosion protection, scan for codes, etc.

I have been involved in some accidents and believe me a Police report guarantees you that the insurance will pay or you will have grounds to go after the guy who hit you. No report and you take a chance of getting screwed by both. This is how it works up here in Canada just saying

I'm going to say over 2k maybe between 2500 and 3k. I had some scratches fixed on the left bed panel (zero bodywork) and it was a little over 1200.00, that included repainting the entire panel and new paint protector decal things. I'm in CA so things are naturally more expensive here

I am going to guess around 4000 for a complete repair. Body work labor is not cheap.

I have seen accident investigators come out to the seen of an accident involving a vehicle vs a golf cart. The vehicle was at fault and two people from the cart had been injured.

yes, but we aren’t discussing personal injuries, are we? This was a fender bender.
