And in Ontario if its under $2000 damage you don't call police. You report to a collision centre and make your police report there.

Calling police out to a minor accident is a waste of time.

In B.C. it's over $2000 and/or physical injury. I would bet that's the same in most provinces and territories.

Oh man - you'd be surprised. My dad's in one of those gated communities where carts are EVERYWHERE, so we cart vs. car all the time. Here in FL, on private property, if there are no injuries, damage is under a certain amount (not sure $$$) and it's not involving any other crime (DUI or public intoxication, assault, etc - yes, here people try to run each other over on carts) they just make sue parties exchange info. Back to your corners and let the insurance companies hash it out.

Umm... nobody made "assumptions". The single comment about being drunk driving started with "if". That's not an assumption... and they had a point. Take your own advice.

@Lt. Dangle Is that you driving? With those shorts...

In New York I would say that repair would be estimated at $3000-$4000. Had a few dents in my side bed and was $3000 when gas was $2.50gal. YLocMV

For those of you saying not to call the police for BS accidents, each state has their own requirements for when you must call. Here in Florida the law states:

"Section 316.065, Florida Statutes, requires the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash involving injury or death to a person, or at least $500 estimated vehicle or property damage to immediately contact local law enforcement."

So in the case of the OP if it had happened in FL he would be obligated to call the police. They can refuse to come out and investigate, but in that case FL has an online reporting system where you have to report the accident and complete a “Driver Report of Traffic Crash (Self Report)”. When I was in my 20s someone rear ended me and the damage was minor, so I decided to be a nice guy and exchange information. I ended up getting screwed. Ever since then I don't care if it's minor or how much the other person begs. The police and my insurance company get called. If the cops are too busy to come out so be it, but I made the call and it's recorded.
