You do NOT have to take off the bumper to install a winch, I installed mine by myself with the bumper on. You just remove the ARB skidplate and lift the winch in with one hand, put the bolts in with the other. It's a PITA but doesnt take more than 30 mins.

I drove to ARB in Seattle ($960 I think) from Kelowna and picked up the bumper there. Paid the HST at the border. Way cheaper than buying in Canada.

5100's won't do it alone. You need springs to compensate for the weight. OME is the way to go IMHO.

It's the springs that carry the weight. The shock just dampens the up/down movement. 886 were almost to stiff with just the bumper and no winch. You can just remove the swaybar for couple of months and it will settle the springs faster. Truck felt much better after adding a winch to the bumper.

I almost pulled the trigger on these but opted for the allpro GB. I love how the arb looks but didnt like how far it sticks out when looking at it from the side.

I've got the ARB bumper with no winch mounted on my 2009 TACOMA TRD
    The factory shocks were bottoming-out.

I had PRO COMP shocks installed all the way around...it doesn't bottom-out but holly cow is it a rough ride.
Not sure if I should live with the rough ride or replace them again.

The possibility of adding a winch - hence extra weight might soften the ride?
Suppose I could experiment by adding my tractor weights onto the front bumper to see how it feels.

2in OME suspension lift ARB bull bar 8000lb WARN 32`duratracs on 17 procomp 7033`s
I've had my bumper and winch since august and love it. I did upgrade my suspension with a 2" OME HD lift. The front rides great but the ass end bucks a little (of course). I also found that going to a 17x9 wheel made a big difference with handling around corners. It's much more stable now.

I meant for the 5100's to be set at something other than 0 preloading the springs. This would raise it and make the ride better.
I am getting the full OME setup as soon as this money gets here!!

I took my bumper to a local shop near Seattle that came highly recommended. The powder coat is not an 'exact match' but it's damn close. We just eyeballed it with different samples that they had. The samples were powder coated metal tabs that you could place next to your truck and see exactly how the color would match. I had every nut and bolt coated for less than 200 bucks!
