Finally, after about 10 1/2 weeks, I got my truck back from the body shop after being rear ended back in mid Feb.

Then first repair estimate was $14,600.00. Upon disassembly, additional damage was found that brought the grand total up to $20,600.00.

The truck was not totalled because being less than 2 years old, it still had significantly more value than the cost of the repairs.

I had the repairs done at the Len Stoler Collision Center in Owings Mills, MD. The are a multi-manufacturer dealership (including Lexus) with a full service collison shop. They did a great job, and the guy that manages the place (Stan) is a great guy. I choos them because of the Lexus dealership. I felt much better about having my truck torn down to the nut and bolt with Lexus (Toyota) trained mechanics working on it.

Stan went out of his way to help me out with a few of my mods that got messed up.

    1. The plastic parts on the front of the truck wer all replaced, and I had done the BHLM and color matched grill emblem.

    2. The badges on the tailgate were toast and new ones were ordered.

When the new parts came in, he let me take them home, do the mods, and bring them back to him for installation. That saved me debadging and taking the front of my truck apart to get the new headlights out. SWEET!

Also, while the truck was in the paint shop, I bought some T-Rex eyelids.... One day when he invited my to stop by and check on my truck, and I showed him what I had. I asked him if he could paint them for me while they were painting the other parts..... He took them out of my hands, smiled, and said no problem.... :D

I'm totally satisfied with the service I got from Len Stoler's Collision Center, so if anyone in the area needs to have their truck worked on, you should be good to go.......

Wow, I'm glad you were able to get your truck back the way you like it. With $20,000 worth of damage, I would have thought the insurance company would have totaled it for sure. Before and after pics would be great.

I am surprised they did not total the truck with the frame damage. I just bought some Weathertechs from a guy who had a new Tacoma with only a few thousand miles on it that had been totalled because of frame damage. He said the damage appeared to be minimal. He was rear ended as well. He was still driving the truck, and took it to the body shop for an estimate. When they told him it was totalled he was shocked.

Glad you were ok & finally have your truck back & are happy with it. :woot:
10 1/2 weeks is a long time! Did you have a rental for that whole time?

The fix costing $20k plus rental is a lot of $$, I'll never understand ins. companies.... but really
All that matters is that you are satisfied and it sounds like you are!
    Welcome back!

Should have had them paint up the headlight bezel and emblems as well while you were at it. Not sure how much of a difference there is between krylon and automotive paint for something like the headlight bezel but I would assume its more durable.

Good to know they took care of you. If I ever need a body shop down the road (hoping I don't) I know where to go.

I mean really. You got your truck back, did some mods during the repair process and then don't show us the final result. I find this insulting.
