Thanks for the pics. Does that rack have it's dimensions on your website? I would like to review and see if the full height rack would work with two sets of Yakima J-Lo kayak holders and two Perception Tribe 9.5' kayaks.

I don't have any dimensions on the website.

It looks like that rack clamps to a round crossbar, but I'm sure it could be adapted to bolt to our rectangular crossbar. There's always a way.

Or you could just use these: https://www.amazon.com/TMS-J-Bar-Ca...TF8&qid=1466768227&sr=8-3&keywords=kayak+rack

They clamp to a variety of bars. I am currently using Yakima Whispbar on my roof.

At the expense of losing all that cargo space in the bed. To each his own, and nice to have all the options we have though.

You don't lose any bed space (unless you were carrying something really tall).

If anything, this frees up bed spaced if you're using it with a cargo basket.

Do you have any customer pics of kayaks mounted to your rack?

I think your short bed rack isn't the right size for my application. With the tall rack at 18" above the side rails of the bed, that still leaves a few inches to the cab height, and clearance. The Yakima carriers I have add a couple of inches of height, but not enough for the kayaks to ride above the cab and I don't want the them sticking completely off the back of the rack and bed.

That and the current kayak carriers I have likely won't wrap securely around the cross bars of your rack. I am guesstimating based on measuring my carriers and looking at the pictures here and on http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/toyota-tacoma-bed-rack-fits-years-2005-2016. With no dimensions to review, it's hard to ascertain. The crossbar for the rack looks to be about 3" thick (based on the picture below) and I would need no more than about 1", especially since it looks like angle iron and not a solid bar.

I like the design but I'm pretty sure some changes would need to be made for me to move to your rack. I like the knobs and the ability to remove or re-install the rack into the bed. That is a plus, though securing it to the truck would be paramount and I don't see any integrated locks on your design.

Is there anyway to keep this thing from being stolen off the truck? Looks pretty easy to rip off.

You could use tamper resistant hardware, but I think most people wouldn't have to worry about it being stolen.

Do you have specifics on what you mean by tamper resistant hardware?

They would be more than fine for this application. The bolts don't really see much stress, they just hold it in place.

How much weight is that rack system designed to hold?
