ha, funny about advanced plating. Ok, not funny, but I have had stuff plated there and didn't even think of the flood possibly hitting them. And I know nashville was flooded. Duh.

What is that emblem made from? Low melting point metal? Not all chrome platers can plate all materials so you need to know that first. I have a local plater I use but they only do steel so he wouldn't do that part. Typical plating chemicals for steel will eat both zinc die cast and LMPM.

The plater can take care of the pits for you or you can do it yourself. They will either sand it and then copper, or copper and sand, then nickel and chrome.

And it's not dumb asking for a recommendation for where to send something for plating vs just doing a google search. Prepping a part for chrome plating takes patience and all platers are not equal. I have had plenty of parts ruined by sub par platers while stumbling onto competent ones.

    edit:

    Try this place

    Super Fine Shine in Ohio.
    2806 Patton Hill Rd
    Chillicothe, OH 45601
    (740) 774-1700

I haven't personally used them but they have been recommended. They are not cheap, but no one that does good chrome plating is.

I'm from Circleville and have used them a few times while restoring VW's in high school/college. Good work.

I know it's not a stupid question, I just don't like chrome so I felt like being a douche about it.
Plus I got a good laugh. As I'm sure other people did also.
Personally I think it looks nice the color it is.
Maybe make it smoother and get it gunmetal grey or a matte black would look nice also.
