Pretty disappointed - it could definitely be worse but I could use some ideas on how to best repair this. Is this something I could DIY? Is it something just a little touchup paint would be enough? Any tips much appreciated. Any chance of rust here because of this? It is the wheel well so it seems like plastic from what i can i can tell.

Just replace the fender flare if it really bugs you. Or just look for someone wanting to sell their OR black flares.

Try some touch up paint for cheap, it might be enough for you. If that doesn't satisfy, get the fender flare(s) that match the truck. As you said, it could've been MUCH worse! You should feel fortunate it was only on a plastic add-on piece and not the metal!

Leave it. Gives the truck character and makes the next scratches not so bad.

Another reason why I hate painted flares. Just put some touch up on and call it good. Looks like garbage like that.

Go to the dealership and get the touch up paint and then go to town on it. Toyota will need the VIN# to match the correct batch to your paint. It's only like $18.

Touch it up yourself.. the color code is first set of digits located on the bottom left of the ID label.

I did the write up linked in post #2 and it was on a plastic flare. You can fix it.

Come up with a good off-roading story and rock it. I left them on my m3, not planning on changing things for the truck. Character. End of the day, it’s a truck/car. Especially being on plastic, just leave it alone and come up with a good story. Only one’s I “fixed” were on metal and that was purely for rust prevention

Take it out four wheeling and then replace all four flares in the fall, they’ll need it. I have moderate quality aftermarkets which are essentially disposable.
