This is my 2021 OR I picked up a few months back. It’s my first Tacoma ever (was driving a 98 4-runner before).

I’ve always loved Tacomas because the mod market for them is so robust. There’s an endless combo of things you can do and every truck reflects their owner which I think is cool.

This week, I finally got around to doing a few things to my truck. So far, new wheels and tires, ceramic window tinting, heritage grille, and sequential mirror signals. Thinking of nerf bar or maybe some lights next.

Any ideas for a “must-have” mod?

Nice truck! Did you get ceramic on the front window too?

Thanks man! I did not do ceramic on the front windshield for two reasons:

    1) I live in Montana and we don’t salt the roads, we sand them. Every year I get chips and cracks in windshields from rocks being flung around. I got a windshield warranty on my truck so for the next 96k miles they will replace any and all windshield damage for free.

    2) My tint guy told me that ceramic on the front windshield is 50/50. Some people notice weird lines and waves on the windshield. Others don’t have any issues. I didn’t want to fork out $250 to do it on the chance I notice the waves. I also wear polarized sunglasses and he said those would probably make me more likely to notice the waves.

Thats good to know. Ive been debating getting my front done cause here in Texas even with a quality windshield foldable sun blocker my truck is quickly a furnace. I also used polarized glasses and have noticed that issue with looking through tint

Oof that Texas sun is brutal. Maybe look into different brands to see if one doesn’t have that issue. I went with Llumar because I’ve heard that they make some of the best product out there. Almost went with 3M as well. If I lived somewhere without sanded roads I’d do more research into it, but I just know that if I put some on, I will take a boulder to the windshield during the first snowstorm lol

Welcome to TW! I'd say my favoriteamazing the Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fog lights. Since you're in Montana I wouldn't get the Sports as they don't melt snow. If you can afford the Max's they're anazing and better than the Pros.

Welcome! I've always felt white paint is a very classy look. To my eye, you have a great looking truck

I'm really happy with the road "ride and handling" improvement I got from a fairly simple ICON stage 2 lift which included coilover front suspension, rear shocks and a very effective AAL setup but I didn't do anything until I ran through the factory warranty.

I'm not a big off-road kind of guy and I can understand why and how this may not be an attractive mod to someone who is, but for my money, when I pulled the interior out of my second-Gen and installed Dynamat sound insulation everywhere it really changed the personality of my truck for the better. I felt an improvement in every area the insulation was installed. The biggest single improvement in addition to no more road and tire noise was when you close the doors. They now sound very firm and solid like you would expect from a much more expensive vehicle.

Best of luck with whatever you do. Welcome to Tacoma ownership. For me they are just great trucks for fun, work, or any other type of daily driving.

I will look into it! I have left my lights factory for now, but am getting ready to explore the lighting market. Have read some awesome stuff about diode dynamics

Sound insulation is not a bad idea at all! I have some buddies who have LOUD MT tires and probably wished they had sound insulation on the freeway!

Yep! My truck is a daily driver and I use it to hunt as well. I don't do any kind of rock crawling, just old mountain roads and dirt trails!

They're great! I loved them so much that after my Tacoma was totalled in an accident I bought new brackets and put them on my F150
