yeah......a .270 round is just a necked down 30.06. the .270 is my favorite caliber, but i couldnt pass this one up. and i dont really target shoot.....just hunt. but i will get a marlin xl-7 in .270 when i save up the $$.

no...scope is normal crosshairs...no bdc. i like the bdc reticle...but for round here, its not needed really. altogether.....i was right at $630 for everything.

i looked at a few different rifles, but this one came with a nikon prostaff scope(3x9x40), and they didnt have it in .270, so i went ahead and got this one. im pretty damn sure it'll foot the bill nicely. and i looked at some leupolds and some other nikons....had i gotten a different rifle.......i woulda went with the leupold qdmanager scope or a nikon buckmasters.

the .308 is definitely a great round....i've seen many a deer taken with that round......but im a big .270 fan, and settled on this 30.06.:D

gimme a call on the weekend soon if you aint doing nothing....we'll go to leeds and do some sighting in. its over in chester.

You can't really go wrong with the 700 series. You can do just about anything to it as far as mods go.

Federals work very well for me in 165 gr. and they are 7 dollars cheaper than the remingtons..

definitely, with the federals i shoot pretty tight groups. the remingtons are a little more off but not by a large margin.

Good choice. 30-06 is a great round. Try the 150's and 165's out of your gun. Either will work fine, so take the one the gun likes better.

Don't forget to try out some Hornady ammo. It is usually a little cheaper and has always grouped well for me. The silver tips are bad ass too, but they are pricey.

Your going to find that 150gr is the most popular stocked 30.06 at most places.

165gr probably has the best ballistics but I always had good luck with 150gr softpoints.

yeah man.....round here, nowhere i hunt you get a shot of over 100 yards, so the 150's will work. im still gonna look for some 165's tho, and start hand loading not too long from now.
