Ain’t gonna happen. I know it’s a claim from the shop but hey it’s a taco. I’m not spending money putting it on a dyno.

They don’t have dyno evidence to support their claim?

It's just small shop talk. It's not like you see/feel 8hp anyways.

Looks and sounds good OP, and nice looking ride also.

When I first crawled under my truck, I noticed the exhaust might be a good candidate for dual- probably going to wait for the original to fall off before doing that mod, lol

In addition to power/ responsiveness, I would be interested if you see any discernible difference in mpg's.

I think the black tips sticking out of both side looks really good on your truck,

Yeah, it just seems like such an exact number to claim without testing. If they didn’t actually test it they should just say “improved performance”

    Agreed

    Seat of the pants testing.

I’ve spent way too much time in oil forums where owners claim HP gains with switching oils, I have to laugh. MPG maybe, but you’re not feeling any difference.

Same with intakes when it already has a CAI, even a 5% HP gain is less than 2%, you only feel it because you want to feel it.

No disrespect to OP, it is a nice exhaust.

If stainless, why did they paint it? Back half I can understand to hide it and match tips. But mid pipe?

Sounds much better than I was expecting in that clip, not too noisy, nice tone for a V6. And I love the look of the dual ceramic black dual tips, it's different.

HP gains? I honestly wouldn't expect any gains without tuning on a new vehicle, no matter what the type of exhaust mod, so moot point.

As for the price? Shoot, I remember paying over a thousand bucks to have a custom 2 1/2" dual exhaust made for my '79 Malibu back in the mid 90's. And that didn't include the headers, which I had already installed myself. That did include 2 aftermarket cats and cutting and welding the trans crossmember to fit the duals though. Still, I don't think $880 is out of line these days for custom exhaust work. Take the ceramic work out of the equation (which I didn't even have the option for in the 90's)and it would have been at least a hundred bucks cheaper, maybe more?

    I dig it.

Thanks. I’m very happy with it. It sounds good and isn’t to loud when driving. Considering other ways this worked for me. The cost isn’t to bad and the shop is top notch. I don’t mind pay people who are local and provide excellent service.

Man they sure did a quality install. I like the routing and how they tucked the tails right up to the fender like they should-you see so many jobs where tails are drooping 3-5" below and that looks like hell. The sound is right too but I would've liked to hear them under load like taking off from stationary cam. That is more telling than neutral revs. I think it was good money especially since you said it's stainless.

I have to digress. After watching the video, it does look like a very high quality job. Definitely not your typical “Jose’s muffler shop” at the corner.

I doubt you gained any power. Might have even lost a little torque (if you went to a bigger diameter piping).

Sound for these trucks, regardless of brand, not my cup of tea.

Goad that you like it, OP.

    Enjoy!

it looks really nice for a muffler shop install actually. I like the tips a lot. but what I don't like is the sound. I was expecting something more aggressive. this to me sounds like a lil bit louder than the stock muffler and thats it. I don't like the way these small engines sound with exhaust anyway. but I had been contemplating putting exhaust on my 3rd Gen too. this just affirms what I was thinking, I am going to stick with my stock exhaust and just put a nice tip on it or cut it off altogether.

but on another note, I can't believe they actually put in the video there is an 8hp increase. WoW! I hope that doesn't come back to bite them in the ass down the road. but without mandrel bent tubing, and actually using higher flow cats and true dual mufflers, I highly doubt they will see anywhere close to 8hp increase.

Looks like a top notch job, OP. Curious as well about any SOTP gains and/or mileage improvements.
