Just had the frame recall service completed. I cringe when handing my truck to the dealership. Photo of incompetent wrenching attached. Can't trust them to twist a small bolt holding a brake fitting back down after slopping their anti-corrosion goop under said bracket... ughhh!

I love Toyota, but I wish they would just get the Taco frames right. The 4Runner frames don’t have these issues, so obviously they CAN fix this problem, I am confused why they choose not to.

Engineering issue. First I think it's a bad design, if you have to add plates to laminate the frame to make it strong enough so it passes crash standards, something isn't right here. And moisture just loves to attach itself to any type of seam or laminated steel component, then add corrosive chemicals to treat roads. A disaster waiting to happen. Why do you think steel brakes have a special anti-corrosive material on them now. Second, either engineering called out the wrong frame steel material or someone missed something in the Production Part Approval Process, (PPAP). PPAP is a process that some in the auto industry use to approve supplier parts. Material not checked for correct composition. Could this happen, you bet, seen it.

I really had high hopes of keeping this truck for quite awhile, honestly don’t want to deal with a rotten frame down the road...really disappointing.

Had it done on mine and its still shiny black metal underneath. Its all in how the frame looks at the time of application.

It was in pretty good shape, just some light surface rust as this was a nevada truck. 13yrs after purchase you have this.

Probibly will build a new frame for it within the next 2yrs or build a 4runner.
