Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I have to say that I slept in my old truck under the tonneau many times. If it is decent weather, then you keep the tailgate down. If not you open the middle of the tonneau a little, or keep a phone handy to call a friend to open it, LOL. For a night here and there, it's great and you already have the hardware. Now I only did this single though.

Well, I am newly single. Plus, you can open my tonneau cover from the inside (the latch is just inside the tailgate).

...bad thing: no ventilation. Texas is really hot right now. Add the East Texas humidity - yikes.

That is true, I never slept in there in the summer. Only spring and fall. How much more ventilation will you get though. You may want to invest in a battery powered fan and use the tonneau. Or try it out first before you buy something. Just a fan of cheap and easy.

no problem rubbing, it comes with little protectors for the clips and the straps dont move after you tighten it down. it did come with a 'rain fly' and a case to for storage!

I was going to also waste a lot of money on a stupid tent that sits in the back of the truck, til i realized that ANY freaking tent can sit back there.

I ran to big 5 and bought a 20$ backpacking 2 person tent and it fits perfect (6 foot bed). I also use it to backpack around the mountains of Socal.

My advice, don't spend 1-200+ on stupid sportzman tents. waste of money.

best part is that it fits perfectly above the subwoofer behind the rear passenger seat. It's always there when i need it.

the nice thing about the truck tents is that the edge of the bed is the edge of the tent. say the drain holes in the bed are clogged up and it rains...you're waking up in a puddle.

Here's a crappy pic of my "tent" with the windows out...during the night the windows were in..

im just shy of 6' tall so i can sleep with the tailgate up, AND i can nap on the tailgate.
