I just installed a Viper 5904 remote start unit in my 07 Tacoma this weekend and everything works flawlessly except for the fact that the remote start takes 2 (sometimes 3) attempts to start. For example, this morning I hit the button and I can hear my truck outside turning over the starter for the full 4 seconds of the 1st attempt. Then it tries again and fires right up. It has NEVER fired on the 1st attempt if I let it sit for more than 10 minutes. The only thing I can think to look into is maybe the tach learn didn't do right, but I'm still not sure about that. Seems to me if it's going to always start up on the 2nd attempt, what is it about the first attempt that doesn't want to work?

Yes make sure you have the correct tach wire and re program it again if so if you have a test light the tach wire will flash fast with the engine reving

you should NEVER use a resistive test light ( light bulb type) when checking for a tach signal, always use a logic probe or multimeter to test!

Well I talked to a local shop and they seem to think my bypass module didn't program to the key right, and it's not telling the computer to turn the fuel pump on. Now how in the world it then proceeds to crank the second time doesn't make sense to me but according to him it happens all the time and they have to reprogram them. He did have a good idea to test that theory though. He said to unplug the bypass module, put the key in and turn it to run, and then use the remote start to crank the engine. If it fires first try then I know that's my issue.
