Typically in Louisiana if you pay the ticket by the date required then it will not be turned over to insurance. If you piss em off and they don't get paid, then you have problems. I have gotten 4 or 5 tickets in LA but have been lucky enough to not have been state police.

This is what I was thinking, hear in GA I thought they passed a bill that if you were 25 or more over it is called a super speeder and you pay dearly.

I know they started putting phone #'s on the tickets here where you can call to find out the amount or maybe even put it on the ticket.

It all depends on your insurance, if they check your driving record or not. If you or your parents make any changes to the policy they usually check, no changes and they usually don't find out until changes are made which could be years down the road. At least that's the way it was when I was your age. I managed to get by for a long time. Then one day mad dad hit the roof when the insurance went up and wanted to know why so the insurance company told him. I had a couple of speeding's on there. One of which was not supposed to be on my record. I had a lifted truck at the time and had the speedo checked and took it to court and proved it was off so the judge dropped the charge. Still went on my record and got me in a heap of s***.

As a guy who has seen a lot of people talk themselves into trouble, I would recommend you get an attorney for this one. I got a ticket for 67 in a 60 (yes, you read that right, 67 in a 60.) and it cost me almost $200 for the fine. It was my first in about 15 years, so the insurance didn't go up. However, I am about twice your age, and with a stellar driving record. I wouldn't go before a judge, any judge, without an attorney. My ex wife tried that, and the judge dropped the fine, but left the points. Our insurance company dropped us, and the only place who would cover us was TWICE what we paid before. She was "high risk" for the next 3 years. Cost me a fortune. Depending on the company, your folks could loose their insurance. I am not a lawyer, but when does it go from "speeding" to "reckless driving" in LA? In Nevada it is 50% over. See where I am going with this? I don't believe it matters if workers were present in the construction zone; in some states it doesn't matter. (NM, NV, TX) As long as you are in a construction zone, the fines double. So what was a $300-$350 fine (bad enough) is now $600-$700 fine. (I couldn't afford it!) Just my advice, feel free to ignore it.

We get them because if anyone we should know the law and know when we are in the wrong. Just because I am military doesn't make me special or give me super powers I'm still a normal person when I'm not in gerison. I'm not in any way above the law that is why we get tickets.
