Went Fishing with my brother under a bridge. When I drove in I stayed above the Pylons. When we left I decided to try to drive on the other side. I knew it was wet but it looked do-able. I have driven through worse. I engaged 4WD just a a precaution but left the traction control on. I started to slide a little so i gave to more gas and the traction control cut engine power and braked the slipping wheels. After It stopped I turned off the traction control and tried to go again. It started to go then just spun. So I tried backing up. That just made things worse. I tried 4 LO, Low gear just about every trick I could think of. I finally decided to quit trying before I buried it up to the axles. I called my dad and got his tundra to come pull me out.

I came to the conclusion that If I had had better tires I would not have had any issues but I don't have all terrain tires and the tires on my truck now don't have the best tread depth.

My experience is that if you get stuck in a mud hole, you can try rocking it back and forth until you get enough momentum to move forward. And that was on a 2wd truck.

4low is better in mud, 4hi is better for snow, sand etc. If you feel like you're bogging down, and back up

If you go fast enough you can make it through pretty much anything. :burnrubber:

I was almost out and if I had not backed up I probably could have gotten out. but when i backed up it built up mud behind the tire. So I couldn't back over it. If I had been smarter I would have remembered I had a camp shovel and dug out under the tired and gotten rocks under the bridge but It was getting late and the sun was almost down.
