Good idea. When my old 08 Tacoma got totaled by some ass-hat side swiping me at 90mph (Speed limit was 75) on the interstate, the cop ticketed me with "careless driving". I got spun 360 degrees, tboned a guard rail, and flipped into the air titer-tottering on my front bumper, slamming back down to the ground right side up, somehow.

I had witnesses that saw it too but the highway patrol officer literally said "I have other calls to get to so I'm going to make this quick". Didn't listen to my story, that witness story, and let the dude who side swiped me drive off with nothing. Didn't even ask if my dad and I were okay etc. Waited 3 hours on the side of the interstate for him to show up, he was gone in 15 minutes.

They tried to make me pay for the guard rail that got destroyed, the careless driving ticket, and points on my license. Was going to be over $500 total. I ended up paying a traffic court lawyer $240, and he got everything thrown out of court for lack of evidence, officer miss conduct or something and cleared from my record etc. Way more worth it than $500+ and license points.

Also, insurance ended up paying me $14,500 for the totaled truck. I did sweet talk to inspector a bit, dude was a really cool guy. Used that as a down payment on my 2017

It IS a law in a lot of states, but I have rarely seen it enforced...

even during twilight LEO will pass cars and not give a crap, apparently there are more important things than keeping drivers safe :(

they need to CRACK down on cell phone usage whilst driving
much stiffer penalties and enforcement by cameras
i can usually tell if somebody is on their cell while driving, it looks like they are drunk with the erratic speeds and lane movement, etc.
slowed reaction time to stopping as well

Emmet - I can say that all of TW is sorry to hear about the accident. We have all enjoyed watching your build and progress. You will recover and come back stronger. Trucks and frames can be fixed or replaced. You are alive and that is what matters most.

Thank you, I hope there is some kind of fixing my frame not super hopeful but we will see. If not hopefully I can find another truck I can fall in love with like I did this one. You are right though I am alive and I'm glad I'm still breathing.

I still cant figure out how to show the bend in a picture but I'm almost wondering if the axle got jacked more than anything. I've got a buddy coming to look it over for me soon. I can see the blocks under my leaf springs shifted quite a bit and my tranny is leaking.

I cant say about insurance in the states, but in Canada it's a write off. I've been a licensed body man for over 30 years. Seen alot of hits similar to yours. The age of the truck coupled with the mileage and cost of repairs are the mitigating factors. Your broker will search comparable trucks in your area to determine value. Have a list of upgrades and mods ready for him so you can argue to come to an accurate value

I'm new to the whole insurance thing, I ran plpd on this truck for a long time and I just recently got a new plan but decided against going with full coverage. My policy states I only have 1000$ in damage coverage.

You need to find another body shop that has a frame rack. This one is blowing you off.

A frame rack body shop specializes in aligning suspension parts. That's what they do.

They have a frame rack and he said he would like to look at the truck before they make any determinations about it.
