How cool is that. Hell I'm gona ask them if I can just have the new one's in the box and keep the old ones on for now!!!!!!!!!!

They'll figure it out that I don't get them. Besides I don't want to leave the truck all day. New leafs and a alignment shouldn't be but a couple of hours and out by noon.

Well, I am sitting gere at G'ville Toyota while they inspect my truck. Came in first thing this morning. I brought in the hard copy of the TSB and told them I had already spoken to Toyota Customer Care on the phone twice. So far so good, they are Much nicer here in person then they were on the phone. The two guys I talked to in person were great as far as looking over the paperwork and admitting there was a problem. Let's hope I can at least get my parts ordered today!!

Inspection went well - they are ordering my parts Monday! They said it takes up to a week to get them in and then I can make an appt to come get it all installed. No questions or problems came up, so I am happy now. I ended up talking to the svc. mgr. at the dealership, so maybe that was the difference. All I know is I am now getting my truck fixed!

Thanks all for the help and the TSB copy!

They replaced it with just 3 leafs again? What are the part #'s on top of the spring? If the last digits are 04550 RH and 04190 LH you still have newer OLD parts. You mind checking?

You mind checking your numbers on top of the 3-pack if you get a chance? I'll let you know Wed. as well as height and ride impressions.

I went into Fred Anderson Toyota in Raleigh, NC and showed them the TSB and said I wanted this taken care of. They said I had to arrange an appointment to have a service tech look at the truck to determine if it needed the work done. I could feel the redness building up on my neck but held my tonque. I will have this done whether they think I should or not. It's a known problem on my model truck so I'm not taking no for an answer. The TSB clearly states "Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer’s specific complaint." I hope I'm just being paranoid because I don't want to have force these people to do the right thing

I just got mine done at 40,000 miles. The dealer was nice enough to do a “gray area” warranty service for me.

Sorry, seems they replaced yours with new OLD parts.

Mine are 4 leaf springs. They did not replace the shocks. I had a TRD truck with the Bilstein's already, as the TSB states. I got the 4 leafs, U bolts, and a alignment in about 4 hours. Raised the rear approx. .75" and made the ride more firm, as in sports car like. I like the way it feels already.

I recently purchased a 2005 and it still has the 3-leaf springs. I plan to tow my boat with this truck and sometimes haul my street bike in the back so getting this done would be sweet.

My truck has 62,000 on it although I did purchase a full extened warranty but its not a Toyota warnantee. Does anyone know if I can get this done without paying the full price myself?

    Thanks!!!

The TSB pretty much says 36 or 36,000.

I am going to be offshore for a while so checking will take some time but I do have a picture of the sticker on my home computer I am hoping that my girlfriend might be able to find it and fill me in on those numbers. Thanks for the response sorry I couldn't get back sooner, when I got on the rig I was told there was not internet or phone so I didn't look. Thanks again.

Got the TSB done today on my imported 08 DC Sport.

    - 1st try I loaded up with weight. Dealer says no TSB on 08 = no go.
    - as per KHFACTOR's advice, got a case number created with Toyota USA.
    - 2nd visit with no weight, just copy of TSB and case number. Service Manager takes digital pics of spring's part numbers to confirm.
    - 2 days later, parts come in.
    - drop off truck at 11:45am. Done by 1:15pm.
    - verified correct part numbers
    - cost = zero.
    - SWEET. Now I can use my truck for work without dragging.

Thanks KHFACTOR. Follow the leader and you can't go wrong.

    Your Quite Welcome!! :)

Wow, now I am elevated to the "LEADER." Whooooo weeee !!! I like it !! Then again, my wife tells me that I was born a leader.... Ahemmmm !! :D

But seriously, it is so satisfying to hear a fellow TW member getting his/her satisfaction following a proven method. As I have been repeatedly preaching to those of you who are planning to obtain the Leaf Spring TSB work, call the Toyota 1-800 number (several times if you have to....) and get your springs this way rather than arguing, and fighting with the local dealership.

Enjoy !! And Spread the Gospel to other TW members about the MAGIC 1-800 Toyota number (not the Budweiser magic refrigerator, but close enough!) :p

Now that you got your TSB springs, a suggestion for you and others with the NEW TSB spprings:

I would, if I were you, go under the truck and touch up with black automotive paint to any place where the black anti-corrosion paint have been scuffed or peeled off by the Dealership mechanics. This is just to PREVENT any spot rusting down the line. I DID!

Remove the lift and go back. The dealer tech is paid by Toyota just the hours to do the TSB, so they are not likely to R&R the additional parts for free. You could offer them a little cash for the additional labor the lift adds to the job. Another thing is the new spring packs come with longer u bolts, but your lift came with even longer u bolts if it uses a spacer, so with the TSB pack plus your spacer neither u bolts will be long enough, and they can't tie up a lift all day while you go out and try to find a pair. Put it back stock, let them install TSB parts, then you get parts required to make the lift work with the new parts. Even the dealer who installed the lift may not do it, nor are the obligated to. Any changes that you did that make the TSB parts not fit would be up to you to handle.

I have 37k miles and no extended warranty and I have the 3 springs not the 4. Mine is an 06' prerunner will they do the TSB? Or is only for those trucks under the bumper to bumper warranty, don't we have a 60k mile powertrain warranty still?

The TSB says the "within the warranty period" and yours is just a hair outside the warranty period. However, since it is just a hair outside the warranty, you may want to try to push the case with the 1-800-toyota customer care. I would...

The Leaf Spring TSB does not fall under the Powertrain warranty....
