Anyone have any luck trying to get this done after the 36,000 miles? I have an extended waranty that covers suspension components. I would love to get this done but not sure if they would cover it.

20% tint on fronts, stock everywhere else, its a lease!
Well, my truck is sitting at the dealer getting worked on. They are sloooow. I dropped it off yesterday at 3:00pm and it wont be done until today at 4:00pm! Oh well, its getting done and I can start hauling stuff again without bottoming out on every bump in the road. Which is good since I have 2 loads of topsoil and a load of mulch to pick up this weekend!!

I'm suprised they are doing it at all being a leased vehicle.

Lease or not - its under factory warranty and I use my truck as a truck. The way the Taco rode before it was horrible. Heck, my last two cars were leases and I modded the crap out of them so I could autocross. I just swapped everything back to stock before turning back in.

Well, I just got back from the dealer. I say to anyone who is on the fence about getting it done - DO IT! It rides so much better than before. Its not so much as riding stiffer, it is just more solid all around. No more loose ride over potholes, speed bumps, etc. I cant wait till this weekend when I can really see what the difference is. The one load of mulch and then a bed full of granite tile was a driving experience I dont want to repeat!

Didn't mean to offend you about the lease remark. But you stated, what prompted the remark, in your 1st paragraph. You modded and swapped back when done. Glad they did it for you. I agree on the TSB ride. Like a completely different truck.

I called the 800 number and all they said was they would contact my local dealer and that the dealer would be in touch. What gives?

I remember reading that someone had the TSB done but no alignment and they were asking about how to center the steering wheel.

If you read the TSB, it shows under warranty information that the work includes time for an alignment (Combo C,D,E,F).

Insist that they do an alignment. Changing the springs changed the toe and put my steering wheel over to the left.

Here is an example of the printout you should get:

That's often the first step in getting the TSB done. The dealer will either order the parts and contact you to come in or have you come in to look at the problem and THEN order the parts and make you come back. :)

That is what happened with me. The 800 number didnt do anything other than get the Customer Relations Manager to call me in a couple of days. I told him how rude his service guy was on the phone to me and my wife and he scheduled an appt for me to meet with the service manager. The service manager was great in person and the whole inspection took 15mins before they agreed to order parts. Parts took 3 days to come in and I went back to get the install done.

No offense taken ;) I know all the ins and outs of leases and what can and "shouldnt" be done to them. I have never had a problem with getting any type of work done that was warranty or TSB work in the past, even on heavily modded cars. The customer just needs to be very well informed about what needs to be done. Thanks to the great forums out there, that is very easy to do.

Kinda late - but what the hell:
Here's a picture of my 07 with the TSB performed after 3 months of having 210lbs of sand bags in the bed. No weight in the bed now and it sits perfect!!!

For reference: Here's a picture of the truck with the original springs right after I purchased it last year in March 07. [IMG]

Keep calling my friend....keep calling until you GET IT DONE.

The dealership ain't gonna make any extra effort to get a hold of you. You need to PUSH PUSH PUSH and push hard sometimes.

You want it bad enough - then get on that phone!! If nobody answers the phone, then call the dealership directly and talk to the first person who answers the phone and tell them "I can't get a hold of Joe Schmoe, and I want this taken care of."

Remember to use the "polite" language when you call the 1-800 number. Do not scream or yell as this will get you nowhere fast.

I have seen many members who claimed that they got nowhere with the 1-800 number, but if they have used the "technique" that I used (please refer to my previous posts), then I betcha that they would have gotten better results...

The art of "communication" is very important when you are trying to convince someone to provide you a service at their cost and your politeness and courtesy will do that much more to sway the other party to come to you assistance...... :)

My problem with calling them was that they told me repeatedly that thet couldnt actually "do" anything. They could call the dealer and have the customer service rep at the dealer call me, and that was it. They couldnt tell them to service my truck, order parts, etc. I talked to 4 people at the 800 line and 2 of them were very polite and helpful as far as acknowledging there was a TSB and I should be covered. One was completely clueless and kept saying she didnt even know what a TSB was, the last person was just flat out rude to me on the phone. He didnt even mark down in the computer that I had called (found out when I called back to talk to someone else). Regardless, the two that were helpful said that they cant really do much other than assign a case number for me and refer me to the dealer customer service rep.

I had much better luck just going to the dealer and handing over the copy of the TSB. I told them I had problems with it bottoming out under light loads, they inspected my truck in all of 15 minutes and parts were ordered. A week later the parts got installed and I now have a much better truck. I hauled in two 1000# loads of topsoil this past week and it rode great. Last year when I hauled in a small load of mulch I was bottoming out on every small bump in the road.

Oh, when I called the dealership that did the work to try and setup an appt, I also got nowhere. They were flat out rude as well even telling me that bottoming out the bumpstops was not a "rough ride"! It wasnt until I went in and talked to the actual service manager that I got anywhere. In person and with the TSB in hand, they were much more cooperative

Same here..they did the springs but not the shocks which is what the tech told me would need it to get the alignment. But the steering wheel is cocked to the left. So back to the dealer..what a PIA

Show him page 2 of the TSB where is shows Warranty Information. The TSB covers the time to do an alignment even if they don't touch the shocks. Dealer should be happy to have the work paid for by Toyota. Good luck!!
