You're right. I had the KO's as my last tire.

I been using 10 ply tires for a while now. I never noticed any difference in the way my truck handle's. No issues with premature wearing at all on truck parts. I really like the stronger sidewall and really never noticed a huge drop MPG loss and not too concerned about it. My next tire will be E rated again without a doubt.

The Hankook ATm's disappointing performance in the wet coastal snow we get here is the reason I'm looking for something else

Looks great OP. Too clean though. I had 10 ply on a past Tacoma of mine and didn't see any negative MPG affects. Running 6 ply KO's now.

Not sure about the hate for an E rated tire, I am not putting these on a civic. I don't care for C rated tires, I ran 1 set and they wore out in about 15k miles. The difference between D and E is too negligible to care. E rated all the way! Nice tires OP.

all the cooper st/maxx tires are e - rated. Would i like a c? yeah..but not an option. They are heavier but driving around colorado and utah i feel better having the extra ply when i am 100 miles from civilization.

I'm pumped on these tires, getting some of them in 275/55 r20 for the T4R.

On the taco my tars are 67lbs. Suck it :D

I have P rated 265/75 Goodyear ATs now, and had D rated Yokos before. Not a big difference in ride or MPGs so far. congrats on the new tires. they look great.

Ok so to chime in on the 10 ply vs non LT tires:
I run a set of 275/70/17 BFG KOs which are plenty stiff. I changed over to a set of 265/65/17 winter tires P rated which I got with the truck but never ran except for first year. The soft ride on these is a real eye opener. I never noticed how comfortable the truck rode with them. And they are mounted on steel wheels.
    Food for thought.

Ok just got them on and have only driven about 10 miles. They felt smooth as an E rated tire can and the tread and sidewall is by far more aggressive than the KO's. More pictures in better light tomorrow and I will put them to the test getting into spots to chase steelhead this weekend.

For the weight weenies, 53 lbs isn't actually all that bad. Many are running much heavier 285. You're not driving a prius, these tires will take a beating and the sidewall is said to be much stronger. And it doesn't take hardcore offroading to slice a sidewall or puncture a tire. I've seen people at the beach slice an AT sidewall with a hard head fin(catfish). P rated is only for mall crawlers.

Just a side note on load rating for our trucks. I previously ran just LT 6 ply tires and will never again. I work in Oil and gas and travel some pretty nasty roads as well as a ton of highway driving. Before I went to 10 ply tires I would constantly pick up mesquite thorns in my sidewalls and trash tires. I've not had one problem with 10 ply. Kevlar in a 6 ply might fix my problem however and maybe that's what I should look into.

The new tires look great, no such thing as over kill on tires in my book it's all about what a person wants or feels they need.

On a different note, what's the ECU flash you speak of ? And did it give you a little more juice as well ? X2 on the ethanol free fuel it's good stuff.

    :help:Just wondering ...
    I went with the original ko`s in 275 65 17 E rated.ko2 were not available at the time .
They fit my 2013 OR access and had to trim a little and remove the dorky fwd front flap.My question is will they suck in snow/ice due to the large foot print. How will they compare to the original rugged trail.hope I did not screw up.

    Any comments

I dont know, im about to figure that out myself this winter, i will say that a few people talked about how bad they sucked in the rain, and it has literally rained almost everyday since i bought my KO's and i havent had any issues with them, they have actually handled really really well in the rain, but as i stated once before, im not a "hold it to the floor" kinda guy, so maybe thats where the difference is ya know.

The ECU flash is the TSB for Spark Knock (Advance in timing) and Updated Shift points. It's in the TSB list. Just print it out and take it to your dealer. Mine was done in my lunch hour. They literally just plug in, load the latest ECU programming, and you're done. It did improve my MPG slightly but the best thing is the absence of spark knock and the smoother ride.

Hi, jshill 78. Good choice peace of mind. Story I got a 2001 4x4 chev. etcab. while rving in Az. The stock tires were good for the road. First season three flat tires. 2nd season 10 ply. e rated zero flats. Got 65,000 mi. on those. GOOD CHOICE.

I thought 275/70/17 weren't coming out until next year?

Eta nm was 265/70/17 I was thinking of.
