Hello friends, what in the world has happened to toyota? ive owned alot of toyotas but it seems like every since this frame rust scandal with the 1995.5-04 tacomas came out that toyotas are getting worse and worse quality wise. i think that everyone that owns a tacoma 1995.5-04 hate to say this might as well give up and either do what i did and replace the frame or junk the truck. dont get me wrong im not trying to get in anyones business not telling anyone what to do. but lets face it people. toyota doesnt care. they built the trucks sold the truck they got the money these trucks cost us and put it in their bank. they simply dont give a crap. i purchased my truck in october of 1999 from a lontime toyota dealership it was brand new. always been registered and always been titled in my name. this being said i never received a recall about the frame rust. ever. i did receive the recall notice about the trailer wiring harness, go figure it was alot cheaper to replace. when the public and i mean people that have bought toyota's have an issue with a vehicle and try to go up against a company like toyota motor co. money always out numbers us. i really cant figure out why ive never seen anything in the news about this frame rust problem. i didnt find out about it until 2011 and the dealership (toyota) told me the frame rust recall was over. then last fall i found out it was extended to 15 years from the manufacture production date. toyota does a very sad and poor job of informing toyota owners of recalls and issues. of course cause it worked out in there favor alot. so friends i really love my tacoma its an awesome truck. didnt want to see it go to junk. so i ordered and purchased a brand new oe frame for my truck. when i got it my neighbor and i sandblasted it in his shop, treated it with a quality no rust primer and sealer, and repainted it. i didnt want to take any chances with rust later. and the original frame rusted from toyota i didnt want the new frame to end up the same way. my neighbor has worked at a toyota dealership for 25 years, and is a master toyota certified technician. we remove the old frame using jacks and hoists and got the new frame installed. i just got really tired of the B.S. from toyota and all the excuses and runaround. so now i have a next to brand new tacoma. the truck has never been in any kind of accident and the paint and body along with the interior are like new, flawless. ive owned this truck for 16 years and still love this truck today. its a shame that i had to pay 2200.00 dollars for the frame reseal and repaint it and do the install myself. when it was a defect from toyota. but i wasnt junking my truck. now ive purchased a 2000 tacoma reg cab sst dlx. the frame on this truck is in very good condition, no rust at all. it was a one owner with only 71.000 miles on it and it was kept in a garage. the original owner had all the service done at the toyota dealer where he purchased it. i love my 99 tacoma but wanted a tacoma like mine with auto transmission. also purchased my wife a 2014 scion tc and it has been trouble already too. for starts the cowl screen was missing from the factory simply was not installed and the dealership didnt know and we the owners didnt know well after a few months leaves and pinestraw at her work had collected in the ac/ heater box and the drainage from the ac filled the box until it flooded the floorboard and soaked the carpet. well the dealership said they would repair and install the screen if it was covered under warranty. wait what? if it is covered. needless to say i took my butt over there and showed out. they fixed it then tried to return my wifes car to us with stained and smelly carpet. then had the nerve to tell us the carpet wasnt under warranty. keep in mind the car is a 2014 with barely 9.000 miles on it. well got mad again asked for corp toyotas number and called them while the service mgr was standing right in front of me. needless to say they replaced the damn carpet and the floormats with new oem carpets. sometimes you just have to raise hell with these people to get your vehicle fixed. and my wifes 2005 tacoma doublecab prerunner has a stack of stupid recalls on it too. and now ive heard there might be a rust problem with frame on 2005 - 2011 tacomas. really TOYOTA? get with the program. toyota has built many dependable quality vehicles in the past, so what happened? did the companys' ownership change hands or something. i see on the internet people saying well the truck is 15 or 16 years old, so what i also have a 2004 toyota pickup with 390,000 miles on it and it runs very well and guess what no rust at all either. so toyota just keep dancing around the rust issue and let your money your company made from these trucks buy your way out of this. our government should step in on issues like this and make you (toyota motor co ) pay for these problems or pay heavy fines. but our government sucks so forget that. TACOMA owners if you really love your trucks and they are still in good condition itd be easier to just have the frame replaced yourself. sorry but thats just the way it is. after the 2014 scion we bought im pretty sure ive bought my last toyota.

Not sure what happened with you but I received multiple letters from Toyota about the frame rust recall. I took it to my dealer and had it inspected..it passed. On my next regular oil change they inspected the frame again and it failed. They scheduled a date for me to bring it in for frame replacement. The dealer had it for one week, they gave a me a new dbl cab 4x4 Tacoma to drive while the work was done...new frame, leaf springs, brake lines and lower control arms. Didn't cost me a penny. I can't brag about how Toyota took care of me enough...no other manufacturer would do that. I have pretty much drove nothing but Toyota trucks since 1987 and plan to continue.
