Well, they're new to me. Some old school 16x8's straight from 1988! Just checking the fit before they go on!

I'll be changing out the tires. They were on the rims when I got them. I'm planning stock size 245/75/16 BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's or some kind of a "Performance" tire. These Aluminum rims are light as a feather and I hope to see better fuel economy with them.. We'll see.

Just picked up some 225/70/16 Goodyear Wrangler ST's, they're Vintage just like the wheels. Gonna try to get them on tomorrow. This should be interesting. These pics are of the little tires on the rims.

I want to see how the truck responds with the smaller tires. Around town I'm hoping it'll be alright; if not I'll pick up stock size tires. It's a little experiment.

I'm just hoping it doesn't look ridiculous. That's pretty close to 5-lug tire size. Please post pics when you have it set up.

OK. That idea got shot to s##t. Ya, 225's are never going to work on 16x8's. The Firestone guy said to go with a 265/65/16 FLOATATION TIRE. What the Hell is a Floatation tire? This? He's kidding, right? Or....Hmmm [IMG]

    No experiment needed.

Smaller tire will make the truck faster out of the hole but will turn more rpms and loose mpg on the highway.

Stock steel wheels are pretty light, not sure you are going to see that much of a mpg gain with those wheels. plus your calculations will need to be adjusted based on tire size with your new tires.

I'll go back and find out exactly what 265/65/16 Floatation tire he's referring to. Ya, this might be good.

I've never heard of anyone running that size tire.

Bro, you want gas mileage, go with 225-80-R16 that's about as skinny of a tire as you can get on here, while keeping the proportions the same. Or maybe even a 215-80-R16.

Don't get me wrong, you will look like you're driving a truck with Model T tires on it, but they will provide the least rolling resistance...

I hear you. Now I'm liking the idea of these 265/65/16's FLOATATION tires just for a little summer fun but yes I'll eventually just go with stock size 245/75/16 BFG Commercial TA's when the time comes. It looks like it'll be a while until I can afford the FLOATATION tire idea because I never planned on it. Man, I wanted these rims on the truck....NOW but it all depends on if I can find those KILLER treads for a good price.
