You don't go to jail for smoking pot. It was a misdemeanor in California (until the signing of this).

Can't argue with that.

 

People with small amounts usually deal with a misdemeanor charge. People with more significant amounts often get hit with trafficking/intent to distribute/etc. charges, paraphernalia charges, and, if it's found during a traffic stop, often DUI/DWI charges.

Often, these things together can add up to some stiff penalties, jailtime certainly not unusual among them.

 

Maybe we could sell Jack in the Box tacos at gas stations too!!!

If we will have such a large reduction in the amount of law enforcement required after legalization, will we see a reduction in our taxes?

Weak argument IMO, did the # of people drunk @ work increase when prohibition was repealed? If we are not going to legalize pot we should take away tobacco & alcohol cause they kill/ruin more lives than weed. I bet all the "red" members posting shit about potheads wouldn't go for that, "not my cigs,chew, & alcohol what will I do while watching Nascar?"

I would be thrilled with a 1.3-1.7% raise this year, as a manager I had to cut staffing & overall costs significantly and still couldn't afford to give my staff anything for a raise. It's tuff all over bud, one more reason to save cash by not prosecuting people with small amounts of weed and for generating some tax dollars by taxing it instead of putting that money into the pockets of dirtbag drug dealers. We all need to read a history book and remember what happened when alcohol was made illegal, didn't exactly stamp out all crime & violence like it was supposed to.

just legalize it already, shit. cali made like $8 million in 08 from just the taxation of medical marijuana. its a proven money maker, might as well get the money for the state than f*ckin narcos in some other country.
