    Yawn...
    Product: Pioneer AVIC 5000 NEX

I had this navigation/radio system installed very soon after I purchased my '14. No problems occurred until two days ago.

I had returned to the shop that installed it, because the steering wheel controls (pick up/hang up calls/home) would not work. The tech stated that the controls got unplugged somehow.

I then requested a mirror for my Waze app. He then installed a Dualcast Wifi A/V dongle and a HDMI to A/V adapter cable.

We go outside to test it. It freezes upon launch of AirPlay mirroring. He insists that upon next Apple update, the stream will be much better.

Problem: Now needing a navi to commute to VA and back to MD, I switch back to Apple CarPlay to use the Pioneer navigation system. En route to VA, it worked fine. On my way back from VA, the GPS would not update my position!! I could be in DC or MD and the GPS still insists I'm in VA. While remaining plugged in to Apple CarPlay, my iPhone also insists that I'm in VA on any GPS app! When I unplug my iPhone, the Pioneer app remains wrong and my phone GPS apps go back to normal.

    :(:mad::annoyed:

The shop was closed early yesterday and isn't open today either.

    Please help.

    1. I tried a reset of the Pioneer unit.
    2. I tried syncing Pioneer's navi app AVICSYNC.
    3. I checked for proper sources (Pandora and Aux).
    4. I tried the mirror again with proper sources selected (A/V and Bluetooth). (It still freezes).
    5. 5000 NEX and iPhone are updated to the latest firmware/iOS updates.

    No luck.

Just replying in case anyone else has similar problems. It had NOTHING to do with recent installations.

    1. Confirmed iPhone bs on causing the virtual pin in VA!!

    2. The screen freeze was due to me not updating the firmware on the Dualcast wifi.

So basically I did a couple of resets. The one reset that worked was "Reset all Settings" under General > Settings > Reset.

The GPS on the Pioneer unit went back to almost normal and I was no longer virtually stuck in VA. This being said, during my commute last night, I saw the GPS throw me around in certain parts of the highway and recalculate.

I'll be in to replace my iPhone 6+ soon. I'm just salty right now because I JUST finished making payments on it.

Soon as I read the first post, I was ready to tell you that it was a problem with the phone. Thing about apple is that they actually do a pretty shoddy job of software, and refuse to acknowledge failures. You see, there is a group of people who mistakenly believe that apple is **flawless**, so if apple *admitted* to flaws, then those isheep (that specific subset of apple customers with the aforementioned belief) will be confused to the point of their heads exploding.

I would suggest something a lot more "open" as your replacement phone. Consider a Google Pixel. Not "flawless", but a heck of a lot closer than anything made by apple.
