The GPS monitoring being discussed is what is referred to a Toyota Connected Services.

    https://www.toyota.com/connected-services/

Models older than 2020 (I believe) don't have the hardware to subscribe to TCS, and as such, can't be remote started, locked/unlocked, etc. by using the Toyota Owners app.

Adaptive CC and other functions that use camera and radar sensors has nothing to do with what is being discussed here.

I don't have anything to hide ether but I also read that article where GM is selling telemetry data to insurance companies who are using it to evaluate their insured drivers, sounds pretty benign on the surface. They exampled an older driver with a good driving record and no accidents, based on some sudden acceleration and some sudden stops they determined their rates should be increased. Nobody knows the context of those actions, it could be warranted. GM is the only one article's authors are aware of, you can be pretty sure that practice will become commonplace. Yes it's a minor encroachment of our privacy and it could be said it makes the roads safer, it's actually another revenue stream for both the ins and the mfrs and who pays, the driver. The built in safesense camera reads speed limit signs, it's not a stretch to think that can also be used in conjunction with GPS data to monitor a driver's speed. Would it be ok for them to sell that to the local police to be used like a speed camera? Lets face it most have nothing to hide but I don't want someone looking over my shoulder every time I start up my vehicle and it's not a stretch to think they might be used in that manner and that's only one example of what's possible.

    I agree this will happen!
For me they will be able to tell when I need a new diaper. Sucks the grandkids and kids will be watched. But us average folks we don’t have much to hide.
One would think if the tech shit is that good people the law is looking for would be easier to catch?

Posting here they know if you’re parked driving where you are etc?
The cameras in your monitor see what you’re doing!
If your connected they can see you!

Insurance companies are also checking your credit scores and basing your rates partly on that.
