I'm going to get one when she gets them and releases them to the people who havent preordered.

screw that, just ordered one, 178 bucks shipped when she gets them in. Hopefully by the end of November.

I'm quite happy and content. The safety in the 3rg Gen was serious.

I don't think they have left the eastern shores yet.

I would like one but will wait until after the first people that ordered them get theirs as well.

I agree that it's probably a minor risk, if any, to have the handle there. I wasn't disputing anything, especially not that the handle would interfere with the curtain airbag deployment. I had read and heard from seemingly knowledgable forum members that the reason it was removed was that it could be impacted in a driver side overlap collision as it was in the crash testing. I couldn't find a video of that, though. I am not sure how crash test ratings are calculated but if removing the handle would improve the crash test score I could see Toyota doing just that. The 2nd gen had them, it is the same cabin structurally and the attachment points are still there so it's not like they removed the handles to save $.
