So, 2nd gens have their "Oh shit" bar on both driver side and passenger side... Wonder why the 2016 ergonomics engineering team missed it on the new Tacoma?

Only reason I liked it is cause if your truck is lifted its easy to get in and out, also if you had a rough day at the gym or doing manly things its kinda nice to cradle yourself into the cabin.
I had an 07 FJ cruiser with the same issue.

Pics below are some solutions they came up with for the FJ , but for the Tacoma? any suggestions??

I'd rather have a handle than an additional airbag, but airbags are cool too.

I don't accept that there is no handle due to airbag theory... the passenger side has a grab handle and an air bag.

My 2012 SR5 4runner does not have a drivers side handle, but they did give it a fold away handle that works pretty well. Spring loaded so when you let go it folds itself away. Every door has the fold away handle, but only the passenger side has the stationary, traditional grab handle.

Has anyone removed the pillar trim? Maybe the threaded bosses are there from the previous gen cab design.
Just change out passenger side to match. Like said I don't see how the passenger side has an airbag wording and airbag under the handle but the driver side cant.

I looked online and can't find a picture like the old ones showing all the airbags, so ignore if there for sure is one under.

I like this idea, could be within the frame of the Pillar.

FWIW...i was told from the dealer that they did not include them on drivers side due to a site line issue...

One of the many reasons we got rid of our 2014 F150 was due to the lack of this handle...that was on our 2007 F150. The 2015's brought them back. While we are bummed the 2016 Taco doesn't have it, we are hopeful a solution becomes available.

We need to resurrect this discussion from the dead. Somebody with a fab shop needs to come with up with something.

I've never even touched mine on the drivers side, but when i was cleaning my truck the other day I noticed a bunch of dried food on the inside of the handle and along the side. i don't know if I threw up on it at one point or what
