Well finally got some more work done on the truck. I was going to rebuild my current Toytec Coilovers with some Eibach 700lb. springs but after speaking live with Toytec I went with another option they are about to release to the public. I am now running 700lb. Eibach springs on Toytec's not quite yet released BOSS Shock Coilover set up for 2nd Gen Taco's.

Valving is different then the Blistein shocks on my current coilovers. Larger diameter shock rod and stem and the body has the threads built in to the body itself. And to top it off the shock can be rebuilt by Toytec when they get worn out.

The truck rides phenomenally better with the valving changes...even with the 700lb. springs. I got to hand to Toytec on these shocks they are going to be a great product.

On a side note I also want to give kudos to Toytec for their awesome customer service. They helped me out during a time of need even on Friday afternoon when they are winding down the week and getting ready for the weekend. Doug, Dylan, and the entire crew went above and beyond to take care. Thanks a ton guys!

 Yeah I am a bit confused on that pic. I have a PM in to Dylan on those.
That's what I did and just asked for new lower bushing to be pressed in. More to come.

Well it has been a while but finally did something to the truck. I decided to change up what is carried on the bed rack. Picked up some TREDS from ToyTec this and got them mounted today.

Found these simple hitch pins at the hardware store and sleeved them with some hose and other rubber to create tension on the mounts and keep them from rattling. One pin now sports a lock on it and the just the cotter pin.

For anyone on TW that has commented that a "Homer Grill is great looking but the price is steep" should really consider what goes into his product before they speak. I have seen Craig's product first hand(NYCO's Grill) and there is nothing that can beat it. The quality and craftsmanship is superb. Well worth cost especially after I have just spent the day installing Homer Mesh Kit on my own grill.

I received the kit from another member on here(thanks Noah) over the summer and it sat on a shelf in my garage until November when I had finally decided on what I wanted to do. Two weeks ago I took it to a local Powder Coat Shop (the only PC shop I will ever go to) and had the mesh color matched to my Desert Sand Micah color. They used a color called Shimmer Gold which apparently is an old FJ gold color. It is so close to the DSM color of my truck the naked cannot tell a difference. I wanted to do something different from the norm of a color matched surround with black mesh.

Got the mesh back early this week and decided to bite off the project this weekend. Upon viewing Homer's Mesh install thread and reading it twice I realized very quickly that I was in over my head. I wanted a deep set Satoshi like the one's that Craig builds however my body work skills and abilities to fill in plastic holes is say.... lacking. So I had to settle for a shallow install and cut all but about 1/2" of the surround depth out.

Earlier this year I prepped and painted my chrome grill surround a satin black just to see how it will hold up. Surprisingly well. So for this I maintained the black surround and proceeded to cut shit up. :D Very quickly I found that a Dremel is very hard to cut in a straight line. I did not have a guide that would go to the depth I needed so I did my best free hand. After some sanding and grinding a bit to smooth out my cuts I knew I was not going to get a straight line. Luckily, since this entire thing was to be black I could cover up my not so straight cuts with some Automotive Door Trim. Whew! Installed the trim and it is pretty darn straight with a couple of humps but most people will not see it.

Next I attached the mesh following the suggestions on the Homer install thread with zip ties and small holes. I did mess up one hole that is just barely visible from under surround. Painted it black and you really cannot see it. Since I was doing a shallow install I had to trim the mesh a bit to fit right.

The last thing I did was adhere the surround back on to the inner grill part with some adhesive. I wanted to watch the videos that Homer created on re-attaching the surround but could not get them to work on any computer. So I figured a good adhesive should handle the job at this point. And that is where I am at the end of the day. The lower corners were being a bitch so I added some silicone and have them clamped for the night to dry.

It kind of looks "BLING" so I hope when I install it on the truck and all of it is together that look goes away. We will see tomorrow. By far this was a pain in the ass. I already appreciated the product that Homer creates but after having done this today, I can only suggest to all of those out there that want to do this mod... save your pennies and buy a Homer Grill. :)
