now the next question since you got me thinking of it so much this weekend is to keep the dust boots or nix em? i just posted in my thread that it dawned on me the shock boots were towards the bottom eyelet too ha ha ha

EDIT: ill probably try and see what my options are to have the full toytec BOSS setup in the future, this time ill have height adjustable fronts :)

Ask Toytec if removing the Boots voids the warranty. If not I say nix em.

keep them...with the shaft at the bottom, they are more susceptible to rocks bouncing up and hitting them

    Truth...

However I would like to see if the boot design has enough drainage holes in it to remove water, mudd, and sand. All of which muck up the shaft performance if left to build up in there. Also note that other shock designs that have the shaft on the bottom don't even come with a boot. I.E. King, ICON, and so on.

see now you guys are making me think about it to much!! :)

EDIT: no drainage holes on the dust boot but it falls away from the shock bottom eyelet pretty loosely so water would drain out i assume. Doug is on his way to Ouray right now so i cant ask him, maybe Dylan from RTI knows? paging dylan

His boots ended up being open on the bottom so they were left on. Also for warranty reasons.

Yep, boots stayed on!! I'm a little worried about my break lines though, I'd like to have your thoughts eric, jace, when installing last night lowering that side of the axle to get the shock eyelet into the mounting bracket the break lines were tighter than I remember. If while wheeling if I get the drivers wheel airborne won't my break lines stretch almost to that point?

Extended brake lines an easy install that we can tackle?

At this point, extended brake ines for the rear Phil wouldnt hurt at all. fronts would probly be over kill, but rear yes, safe, cheap insurance in my book

I noticed that those BOSS shocks are longer then your 5100's from that pic in your build thread. It is time for extended brake lines. Install can be a bit messy if not done by someone experienced. I have very little experience on them. One thing we could do is add a spacer for the axle mount like Bob and I have until you can get your extended brake line ordered and installed. It will give you a couple more inches.

Thanks man. Yes they do swing up. At the moment it is a prototype. I am working with Low Range Off Road and they are currently revising the design. I will have more information about it in the future.

yeah that spacer you have on yours was my first thought on how to get something in the meantime. Did you just pick that up at ACE or something?

those brake lines aren't bad, just spray both top and bottom connections with rust penetrate a week or so in advance a few times. they come off pretty easy. throw the New ones on and bleed
