    These photos were from a trip we did way back in 2003. Still had our old trucks. Actually my friend Dean still has his, the desert sand one in that photo his 1985 XtraCab, 22R, 5 speed. I still had my 1991 XtraCab, 22R-E, 5 speed then. I just sold that a little less than a year ago to get the Taco I have now.

    That's changed since we went there. It was first come, first serve on camping. You needed a National Park permit to be in there, either at the pay station or an annual pass. I understand the change to sunset arrival, it would be so easy to drive off the edge if you didn't know where you were going. When we did it in early October it was just us and a dude on a dual spot who was traveling north-to-south from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego.

    Plus The outhouse there is probably one of the best anywhere, location, location, location.

    it has been a while, life got interesting....

    Permit to camp, but you are correct on first come first served, but in those designated sites only. Still a great spot though.
