    Classic!

:( I was working Air Force Rescue Coordination Center when the helicopter crashed that killed him. We had direct FAA feed on all incidents, crashes, etc. I still love his music, but I always think of that. One piece of of elevated terrain along the route of flight. Trying to dodge bad weather and they ran right into the damn thing.

EDIT: We directed the dispatch of the Air Force Rescue Helo. \/\/\/\/

On the morning of August 26, 1990, Vaughan told his band and crew members about a horrible nightmare in which he was at his own funeral and saw thousands of mourners. He felt "terrified, yet almost peaceful."[1] Backstage after the show that evening, the musicians talked about playing together again, particularly with Eric Clapton for a series of dates at London's Royal Albert Hall in February and March 1991, as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix.[2] Moments later, Peter Jackson, Clapton's tour manager, said that the weather was getting worse and they had to leave soon.[3] According to Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton, Vaughan's last words to him were, "I love ya."[4][5]
Dew was settling on the windshields of the four helicopters waiting to transport the performers back to Chicago. Stevie Ray, his elder brother Jimmie Vaughan, and his wife Connie made their way to their reserved helicopter, a Bell 206B Jet Ranger booked by Omniflight Helicopters and manned by Jeff Brown, a 42-year-old veteran pilot.[5][6][7] Peter Jackson, one of Clapton's tour managers let Vaughan know that three seats were reserved for himself, Jimmie, and Connie.[2][8] Upon arrival, they discovered that their seats had been taken by members of Clapton's crew, agent Bobby Brooks, bodyguard Nigel Browne, and assistant tour manager Colin Smythe.[2][5][9] Vaughan, wanting to get back to Chicago, asked Jimmie and Connie if he could take the last seat, saying "I really need to get back.".[2][5] They obliged and caught the next flight in Lake Geneva with Layton and Jimmie's manager, Mark Proct.[2]
At 1 a.m., the helicopters departed in dense fog at two-minute intervals.[10] Jeff Brown, occupying the right seat in the cockpit,[7] guided the helicopter off the golf course, remaining at a high speed and slightly lower altitude than the others.[6][11] It banked sharply[9] to the left[6] and crashed into the side of a 300-foot-high ski slope,[12] about 0.6 miles (0.97 km) from takeoff.[6] All on board were killed instantly.[13] With no fire or explosion, the bodies and debris were scattered over an area of 200 square feet (19 m2).[8][11][12] Nobody was aware of the crash until the helicopter failed to arrive at its destination the next morning.
At 7 a.m., an Air Force search helicopter, carrying sheriff's deputies, found the wreckage, which was 50 feet (15 m) below the summit of the hill.[6][11] Shortly after, Clapton and Jimmie Vaughan were called to the morgue to identify the bodies.[12] According to an autopsy report, Vaughan had suffered many unsurvivable injuries, such as transection and dissection of the aorta, multiple depressed skull fractures, ruptured spleen and liver, along with fractures of the right thigh bone and ribs.[14] An investigation found that no drugs or alcohol were involved, and all victims had worn seatbelts.[7] No part malfunction was found in the investigation.[6] Pilot Jeff Brown had many hours of experience operating the Bell 206B at night. However, he had an instrument rating for flying airplanes at night with dense fog, not helicopters.[5][7] The cause of the crash was that Brown simply did not see the hill and flew the helicopter full speed into the hillside due to low visibility.[11]

Just trying to get these machines fired up. It's pretty quiet in here.
We have 5 seperate bays that are 1/4 mile long. You can actually step out into the aisle and not see a single soul. Guess some people are taking advantage of this rainy weather and staying home and in bed.

I've managed to burn up 3 weeks of vacation so far this year.
The weather was really bad in northern Indiana for Christmas last year so I didn't end up going home till New yrs.
Get another week and a personal day for my 15 yrs in July.

    Meanwhile, I'm stuck here.

Just your time resets? Like on your anniversary date or everyone's time resets?
    That's kind of odd.

Oh no it's everything for everyone. Our fiscal year starts June 1 and ends May 31 so our shit starts and stops with the fiscal year. It's a little odd.

Never heard of that. Seems rather odd.

Pretty good nite for me. Got 2 of the largest chromoly pieces we machine.
One at 18000lbs and the other at 16000lbs.
Each part takes about 30 mins to prep and clean. 3 hr cycle times for each.
Looks like I'll be surfing the net tonight.:D

Hey Joe and Rich. Once again here I am wide awake in the middle of the night. It was a good day Sunday though. Grilled mooseburgers, salmon, and asparagus, with some beer battered halibut on the side, with a side salad; it was all very good. All the kids and grand kids came over. Grands stayed the night so we'll have some fun today. Parents left about 6:30PM and I hit the wall at 8:30PM. Five hours later and here I am wide awake.

Yup. That's the way it always works. Takes us a day or two to getting everything up and running smoothly after it all being shut down for two days.

:tinfoilhat:It's a conspiracy. They save all the broke shit 'til you get back from your break. :spy:

Yep Rich. It's going good so far. :)

Did you get anything done on your gameroom?

Oh ... and how many chapters in the book about your Grandfather? I'm all caught up and anxious to read more. It's really a great story. To think of how young all those guys were and the courage they showed in the face of such great peril. They were truly heroes fighting evil.

Nothing done to the game room Rob, just drug a few old guitars out of the closet.
Glad you are enjoying the read. I think there are 20 chapters?
If I don't work over this morning, I'll see if I can get another one up.

I think Joe must have found a place to sneak in a nap!! Lol.

Hey Rob I wanna come eat at your house!

Tom our "Monday" is always our shit day. The way the work is assigned here is like this..."Mondays" = worst job..."Fridays" = no assignment or the least amount of work to be assigned. That changes if somebody is on 2x or 1.5x then they get the shitty work.

Today is my "Friday" and I'm outta here in 85 minutes. I actually was able to get me about 3 hours sleep...it's amazing how much better I feel.
