I’d rather not go through the hassle of that though and still pay the 1% deductible. Trying to save as much before our kid comes in June

After 5 hours we finally got a bed. I only saw about 3 nurses in the ER. When another hospital buys the other hospital in town and they offer more money they all leave this one. They were holding 11 admits in the ER last night. My wife works in recovery there and she said that the Dr's operate on Monday and Tuesday and fill up all the rooms in the hospital. Then when they operate on wed and thurs they already don't have any rooms to put them in so they end up on their call nights having to work all night to watch pt's that should be in a room but there's not one available. Therefore the call people are taken up watching pt's making overtime because they have no where to put them. Just a huge clusterfuck.

This is the only city in the state where EMS is having to wait on a bed in the ER. The one we were at decided a tr or two ago to add OB there. That place is like a ghost town when you go up there. I would say it's money that should have been spent on a bigger ER than OB when the other hospital is the one with NICU, transport team and everything else. Just seems like a total lack of management in this area. Now that the other hospital got bought by Piedmont I would imagine things will be changing there which they have gotten better. Don't see much hope for anything at this one though.

 

Tough to watch, tough to see, & what's really tough is trying to be a part of it & holding it together. Lack of infrastructure, poor management, bad scheduling know no boundaries.

 

Got another interview later this week or early next week. Still shift, but huge opportunities off shift

 

How big is this hospital?

 

376 beds and over 2700 employees. Local cardiac and ortho hospital.

We used to have 3 but the other hospital bought that one and closed it and made it a specialty hospital/long term one. They are about to open Hughston Sports Hospital as a small ER which should probably be a 50+ bed ER to support the area but there's not a chance in hell it's going to be that big.

The other hospital which just got bought by Piedmont has 40 beds in the ER. They are also the owners of Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital. Of course the ER was started before Piedmont ever came into the picture. I have a lot better hopes for the trauma center under Piedmont.

Piedmont is a 583 bed level 2 trauma center.

Bigger than us. We’ve got 268 beds. I think the most I’ve seen our Er have is 50 and that was putting them in the hall and chairs. They can turn that hospital around if they can get it together.

 

They need someone who can manage it to do that and someone with the balls to tell the ones who don't need a er to go see their Dr.
