A local shop here recommended against pizza cutters because Colorado roads are so bad. They're GREAT offroad from what I hear, but they wander pretty badly on rutty asphalt like we have here.

I think I've been going about tires wrong. I always thought to go bigger, the first number went up, not the second... So really I want 265/80/17s if I want to go 33s?

On another subject, what gets me through the long nights at work is stuff like this lol

 

265 section width in mm
80 aspect ratio (%)
17 wheel dimaeter in inches

Side wall height is 265mm x 0.80 So the numbers go hand in hand.

Total = (265/25.4) * 0.80 * 2 + 17 = 33.69"

 

Or more commonly 285/75r16

 

I'm just curious whether I should increase aspect ratio or tire width to gain height. I'm running 265/70r17s currently and just put in a 1.5-2" lift in the front and the same in the rear (5100s on second setting with OEM Sport coils, 3rd gen leafs with Icon AAL).

Edit: Still running OEM UCAs otherwise id get the full 3" from them.

If you increase any of the 3 numbers without changing anything else, the tire will be taller. The first number is width, so changing that number will make the tire wider, but also make it taller because the second number is a percentage of the first number. The second number determines sidewall height (the amount of rubber between the rim and the tread), so making it bigger makes the tire taller without being wider. Third number is obviously rim size.

 

Next bump up is pizza cutters or 285/70r17 and 285/75r16, I believe.

Pizza cutters are generally less of an issue. The others, you're cutting .Haha
