It's just like studying for a driver's test. Get the answers down and move on. Good job.

The biggest things are when you get the license is to figure out repeaters in the area and just what frequencies are for what. And luckily we have the internet for that. Haha

I'm pretty sure I'll just listen for a while before I start "talking". Plus, there's 3 other guys around that are getting their licenses too. I'll have some good guys to get tips from

...how do you think I got my first radio? Baofeng UV-5r. Haha. Are you seeing the progression yet?

Now my current level is at ; I go camping and when sitting around the camp fire in nowhereville, I can whip out the HF radio and try talking to people around the country.

It's also double as emergency comms in the back country because it goes a lot farther.

If you have a windows computer they work just fine. In fact someone in your area might already have a file they could email you and you'd just have to follow the instructions to load it up.

If there's a ham radio store in the county, they'd most likely be able to reffer you to someone

DMR is another cool one to read about .ignore 100% of the techno mumbo jumbo. Basically you can talk to anyone in the world, and the signal is much clearer, as long as you can get the signal through. The radios are fairly inexpensive too. Neat stuff. Not sure if you have to wait until your internet isnt block :D to get youtube. But you can hear the difference there. I think maybe $120 for a radio you can use in the car, makes a great handheld, and can talk around the world.

The net here is setup with DMR, Fusion, Allstar and analog all combined so you can use any of them to talk to each other. Phil should be able to hit the Auburn repeater in that net too.
