    Morning.

Bill did you see that the only person to die so far was from a house that blew up and the chimney fell on him while he was in his car? That's terrible.

Phew. Alright. Here we go. The slow factor of the touch screen is 80% why I didn't go with either of the yaesu. Can't handle it.

The Kenwood is dated, but arguably has the best front end in the market, meaning it recieves and sends super clear, as conditions are available.

So the digital bit. Digital is cool. And that bit is completely up to you. It wasn't a huge factor for my mobile rig since anyone I'd talk to that's on digital is normally on analog when I'm traveling anyway. Most people I talk to on DMR are sitting at home. And from my home I just use my handheld. For the cost of a solid reliable hand held, you can spend $30 more and get one with digital and still be low cost, and you now have a mobile and hand held. So there's a few ways to skin that cat and you'll have to figure out what's really important to you.

For me it was a real strong clear signal as my hearing is shot from work. I also want dual recieve, and have two separate controls for each side of the radio right up front. The final bit was cross repeat abilities. All of these things both the Kenwood checked off for me.

I went with the tm-v71a to save money , but because the form works better for me. I dont want to type on the ftm flat screen or scroll through letters on the d710. I'm buying a $70 blue tooth tnc and can use my APRS Ap to see real time maps, locations, telemetry, station info, and text message using my phone through the radio. Way easier for me. I actually got a tablet at a wholesale club and now have my GPS nav and APRS on split screen while I wheel. All together it was less than the D710 with easier use for me.

And for echolink. You only need a second radio for a personal home set up. I use echolink repeaters. The Kenwood kick ass with this. Basically you can pre-program dtmf codes and just hit a button to connect so you don't have to dial them every time. If you get the cable to do it on a computer, it's even easier. You can just type them in a you're rocking.

This probably makes no sense and is filled with typos. Super foggy today. Shouldn't have stayed up til 3 watching a Gettysburg documentary.

So yeah, big shit show tonight. Got 1 truck back from the shop and had another go down. The welder on my truck has been removed for repairs. Supervisors supposed to watch me weld tonight to recertify me. Gonna have to pull out the jumper cables and use the truck battery.:welder::bananadead::rofl:

Yeah, with all the explosions and whatnot that seems like such a shitty way to go.

We’re certainly keeping busy over here.

It's the worst. You can play with everything there.

But honestly if you ever get the chance, they're probably wicked nice dude and are looking to get you into, and keep you in the hobby. They won't just try to sell you the most expensive thing. Just talk to more than one sales guy if you can. There's always some mixed brand loyalty in those places it seems, which isn't bad

Had ‘BZ news on trying to assess how shitty the night was going to be.

But I had it cranked earlier in the day. Such a difference
