Not ready yet! Give me another few weeks to move some leaves and get some limbs cut and possibly a generator wired up. Last winter killed us.

It's snowing here too (LaCrosse).

I am not looking forward to this winter. We've had nothing but rain this summer. 2018 is shaping up to be the year of the garbage WX.

 

Got the generator going last week. Pellet burner and snow blower this week!

I think there is some story about ants and a grasshopper that I should be remembering right about now... Being prepared for the winter and all that.

 

With the 2 little guys, I may have to revisit the generator discussion with wifey this week. The last 2 good storms food loss would’ve paid for it.
Does your auger double as a post hole digger? May have to rent one of those

 

If you have Nat gas or propane, look into the generac ones. They're more money, but are worth their weight in gold.

 

Snow really isn't that hard to deal with. Have fuel. Have canned goods + water. Don't travel unless you need to. Zero issues.

 

I usually have a week's worth of food and water for nine people. I rotate it frequently to get the family used to the dried food stuff (if a 5 year old won't eat it on a normal night she won't eat it in an emergency). I haven't refreshed it for this winter yet and all this talk about generators makes me want one.

 

I've done a lot of propane / Nat gas generators and they're the balls. The burn so clean that they never have issues. They're also on a timer so they'll automatically fire up on schedule to cycle it and keep it active. They sip fuel. They're just expensive.

 

I probably just need a portable until we move. Something to keep the fridge and the pellet stove running. Keep the beer cold and the kids warm.

 

I don’t have either, but have been looking at the dual fuel options. If our power goes out, so does the well pump.

I have a 4200W gas powered Craftsman (Generac) Powers the whole house (as long as we don't turn everything on) including the 240V well pump.
