Are you looking at quad copters? They work great to haul your rig waaay further than you can cast. Put a wire hook on the QC, drape the lure over the hook, fly the lure out as far as you want and tip the QC. The lure falls in the water where you want it.

Of course this may not be totally legal. Check your regs.

Cant fly those in the Assateague Refuge where I fish. Plus casting out far enough isnt too hard.

Haha nobody does. I have one expensive reel. Shimano curado for bass fishing. They had a payment plan. Haha.

Honestly I'd look into the Penn Fierce line. They're still a bit pricey , but the drag on then is phenomenal and they handle salt water really well.

    I have 2

The bigger reels can handle it. They come in all sizes. Personally I like a rough reel for any big* sport fish that I'm going to be taking and giving line out of a lot. Less line twist and a straight pull.

I like the "less line twist" part. Probably why I use fly reels for 90% of my fishing...Plus I'm lazy. why reel and cast when I can just lift and cast?

Depends on how I'm fishing too. If Im casting a popper, inshore style baitcaster. If I'm using a spoon and trying to shoot some distance casting, spinning. Circle hooks and prawn on light tackle is spinning. Stripers on the bottom with weight and a runner set up, I'll use a round reel. And always a round reel trolling

no.......... It holds dirty towels and stuff after I dry off the dog... Or if the idiots don't seal my growler correctly and it gets all over the shirts I just bought, works amazing.

I think I'm pretty set on a penn rig. I've been comparing their rods and reels here for the past couple hours.

Can't go wrong there. And you can help them last longer by pulling them off after fishing , giving them a rinse, and tossing them in a bowl of warm water for half hour or so. Helps get the salt out.

I just dont want to overdo it for what I'm fishing for. Striper and Drum. I was wonding if an 8000 series was too much.
