Speaking of towels......loaded up on suture towels tonight. Our packs come with 4 and rarely use 2 of them. They are considered "throw away" items.

 

@Comatose yup it looks like the 6000 would be sufficient. They also have a washer upgrade for the drag that goes for a few bucks, which wouldnt hurt.

 

It’s amazing what hospitals throw away and have to toss because it’s “outdated”. Ten years for most equipment. After that parts are no longer available. If it breaks and it can’t be fixed in house in the trash it goes!

 

Our crash carts are Craftsman rolling 5 drawer tool boxes.....getting phased out to Kobalt 7 drawer...…...I got a nice/free Craftsman a few years ago that had a dent in it(popped right out with a smack from the inside)
When they get on a "update" kick...…..hoarders can get some good shit

 

Fuck yes. Those are the best.... Our sterile equip trays come in sweet absorbent sheets that are good for oil changes.

 

We switched from blue bins to clear bins on our par wall... They were all sitting near the dumpster the other night.

 

The white 4x4 soaker uppers(I don't remember what they are called ) from a surgery pack are great too. I use to have a bag full of those. And the blue ones from surgery are great for cleaning glass too.

 

We had some PVC linen carts(we upgraded to expensive badge operated ones). I put dibs in on those......our director took them to the football stadium for the whambulance crew(she also manages them too)
Damn things would have been perfect to put gun parts on

 

This is one of those things I'd beg to take home and immediately never use.

Why have badge access for your linen? That's silly.

 

I'm sure I'd do the same....but by God...….I'd take it

Gotta use up all the budget. It wouldn't be smart to give the "left over" as a bonus to the employees.

And it gives the feel of "updated" health care. Because people care more about looks than the care they receive.

 

After epic and changing everything we have at the same time we have no "left over."

It's truly a shame at what we "waste" money on as a department. We actually have a money making ER. Our volume has gotten to the point they are building a free standing ER with surgery center 7 miles from us near Auburn University. We just bought the next hospital up about 2yrs ago too. They really should turn that small hospital into nothing but psych shit.
